My new love

Hello Dreamstimers! It's me again, long time no see. This time, I would like to share with you my new equipment. A 18-50 mm f/2.8 Sigma lens that is just outstanding in every possible way considering the low cost. I even purchased mine used for about 220$!The main reason why I decided to buy this lens was because of my new and growing interest in event photography, more specifically nightclub photography. Now, there are a lot better lenses out there for this purpose but the 18-50mm Sigma... continue reading

The camera lens is my third eye

On October 15, we mark the White Cane Safety Day dedicated to the right for easy movement of blind people. It has been observed since 1969 following a decision of the International Federation of the Blind to raise awareness to the problems of the visually impaired. The white cane is also adopted as a security mark in traffic laws of all countries in the world. It is recognized as a symbol of self-reliance for visually impaired people. In Bulgaria, October 15 is celebrated for the first... continue reading

New Macro Lens

Last week I got a 60mm macro lens for my Nikon d5200. I wrote on the message board and got some helpful comments so thank you for those. It took me a while to get used to how to get the best results and I am sure I have much to learn but I a quite pleased with my first results. So now I would like to document my journey with my lens... and get some tips.I am really amazed that the first two photos I uploaded (more as a trial) actually got accepted so I am very happy. These are just... continue reading

It's better to invest in camera bodies or lenses?

Especially among younger photographers I seem to see a buying spree of megapixels: trying the camera with the most megapixels, and it is believed that they alone can guarantee to get good photos. Otherwise there is a search for the latest model, the camera straight out, the ultimate body. But in the world of microstock, more than ever, this trend (especially for beginners) can be deleterious. In a year - but also in only six months - the new camera body will be obsolete; there will be a new... continue reading

Rodeos, and editorial licenses

I've recently submitted photos I had taken whilst at a rodeo in Grace Idaho, and this is a place where it would be impossible to acquire a model release for all people in most photos. So I am very happy about using the editorial license to put my photos up for sale on Dreamstime. Also I would like to point out that I have found that when taking action shots at a rodeo a 100 to 500 mm zoom lens works very well for these conditions.    continue reading

The 50 mm blessing!

So, I bought my Nikon AF 50 mm F/1.8 for about six or seven months ago and I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am of its performance. It is absolutely incredible and wherever my camera goes, it goes!Reasons?1) Sharpness - The sharpness of a zoom lens is nothing compared to the one of a prime lens. It is wonderful!2) Bokeh - An absolutely stunning bokeh will be at your disposal.3) Price - For about 180 dollars you can get this outstanding lens which is nothing compared to the prices... continue reading

Soap bubble bokehs

In the recent times an old time lens from Meyer-Optik stable started gaining popularity among the new generation photographers. It was not for its sharpness or corner to corner resolving power. No nothing related to how modern days lens is assessed. But the popularity was for its ability to produce those soap bubble shaped bokehs. This is merely due to the lens formula used for its construction.      The lens is the Meyer-Optik Trioplan 100 mm F2.8. There are deals on ebay but as the popularity... continue reading

Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6

Most of my work is in the wildlife realm, but I also enjoy shooting landscapes from time to time as well. Since I bought a Canon 7D last fall I have needed an APS-C wide angle and so I decided to pick up the Canon EF-S 10-18mm lens.As do many of you, I went to many of the hot-spots on the internet to look at the specs and reviews which seem to be everywhere. It was touted as having excellent optics and a decent build quality so I had quite a level of expectation built up as to how this lens would... continue reading

What's the best camera for start work with Microstock? (With answer)

Hi Girls and Guys, here I go direct to the point, but first I want to mention that most of you had heard that you should buy an entry camera and then buying new stuffs according to need you feel necessary. FORGET IT!I had spend some years with entry cameras and I had lose a lot of photos because of many issues, but mostly because of 2 things:- BAD FOCUS- NOISEThose both things could be solved if I had propper gear.I had buy prime lenses 70-200mm f2.8 and 24-70 f2.8, but I still... continue reading
