Macro Photography: A bright new world

I've been doing photography steady on Dreamstime for about a year nowNot knowing what to expect I snapped the lens on my camera and headed out into the woods seeking bugs, frogs, flowers and anything else that eluded my daily walk around a 28-105 lens. After an interesting outing I arrived back home and popped in the card in my laptop and waited on the result, wow!! is all I can say, the images just blew my mind, the detail the colors were just mind boggling, to put it plainly this 100mm macro... continue reading

photography with the canon "pancake" 40 mm

Due to health limitations during the past months I passed from traveling far abroad with my 300 mmm f2.8 canon lens and the canon 5D III, heavy (!) to stay near to my home and use exclusively a 40 mm "pancake" lens from Canon. This inexpensive little lens hardly protrudes 2 cm from the camera body and it's weight is just about 125 gr. while the price (around 200$) is equally reduced. It's sharpness however is excellent and I have gotten used to shoot anything from landscapes to buildings and even... continue reading

Need some help with lens contacts

Hello, now I'm struggling with a new problem, I've bought some cheap macro tubes with contacts (plastic ones) which worked great, but seems my cheap tele-macro lens has some issues with them recently.I've tried to clean the contacts with an eraser then with ethyl alcohol and nothing seemed to work so far plus the lens has some issues in macro mode and when used at 300 (Tamron 70-300 tele-macro) which is a pity because I have some shots accepted here with this lens as well.I would really appreciate... continue reading

Book that realize my dream.

Hi friends,First of all l would like to say that I am not (NOT) a pro but just a hobbyist and still learning. But let me share some tips that I think may be useful for someone like me.I happened to read this book, "Taking Stock: Make money in microstock creating photos that sell" by Rob Sylvan. It says many good points and some of these are images with fringe will straightaway go into trash.Under or over expose images are most probably won't be selected. by looking at the... continue reading

Upgrading equipment, is it necessary?

As a photography beginner, this question is always in my mind recently. Although a good photo depends mainly on your photographic skills, ideas and composition of a photo, etc., I find that a better lens and camera really help in many occasions. While some top models of camera can use higher ISO such as 3200 to take a photo without much noise problem, my current camera encounters significant noise problem when ISO is pushed to 800 or above. In some harsh conditions with inadequate light, I can'... continue reading

50mm - a magic lens!

They say Kit lens is the beginner's lens. True it is. But I started my DSLR photography with a 50mm prime and since then I am madly in love with my magic lens! In fact I still do not own any kit lens! :DYou can do thousands of experiments with this much lighter weapon! The focal length is almost close to the perception of human eye. It covers the whole zone as your eye can see at once. Makes the picture more real. I never forget this tiny wonder when I go for street photography. Just apt for... continue reading
