lens stress

Am I the only photographer who suffers from lens stress/envy/anxiety? I'm slowly nearing the 100 photos landmark with dreamstime and up until recently have made do with one lens; the tamron 17 -50 f2.8 (non IS) which has served me very well.I have always known I would need to get some kind of telephoto as a logical next step and finally I went for a canon EF 70 - 300 a couple of months ago. It has taken me several years of indecision and procrastination to take this step, mainly because I couldn'... continue reading

Polarizer filter, if you want stunning blue skies!

A lot of people ask me how I get the sky in my images to be so blue. While there are many variables involved in making the sky look natural, a polarizing filter can actually make the sky look more dramatic, and it's easy to learn how to use it properly.Basically, a polarizer can reduce reflections from objects such as water and glass and can be used to darken the sky and bring out the clouds, making the scene look much more vivid. It can also help reduce haze. For all normal lenses that have a... continue reading

First accepted image from new lens bought from first payout

A short while ago my balance went over the magic $100 for the first time and I was able to request a payout. I put the money towards a lens I have been wanting for some time, a Sigma 10-20mm zoom. This is the first image from that lens to be accepted on Dreamstime. Not content with just the one purchase I yesterday ordered a Nikon DX 40mm micro. That arrived this morning - I have not even opened the box yet. I bought that for the macro facility, and also for the lightness and image quality... continue reading

Test Jupiter 37A lens with Nikon

Hi all!!!I have a little story for you!So… When I just started to take photos, I was using old camera, which was made in USSR somewhere around 1980 called ZENIT, where you was using photo film inside! I think a lot of people remember these ones! And for last few monthsI was really interested in good old USSR lenses, as during that time things was made to serve for centuries! Dust in Sensor

In one of my recent trips I have end up having some dust in my sensor and my attempts to clean this had caused more damage than help. I tried the local canon service center but they would not help as my EOS 350 D is too old and is no longer supported. The only option that seems left out for me is to go for a new camera. I also visited the canon store to check out some new camera, I liked Canon 5D MarkIII and Canon 6D but this is going to burn a huge hole in my pocket. I am sure this is not only going... continue reading

Gear vs Eye

I often encounter a question. Well, I am so sure most of you must have answered such question. You upload a good shot in your public profile and the next question will be 'Which camera?' Might be the most irritating question for a true artist :)Well, better gears do help to create good photos but does that mean idea/angle/composition...none of these matters? If you are a good photographer you can take memorable photos even with your point and shoot. We have such an artist in India who is famous... continue reading

Need an upgrade ? Full Frame Camera ??? "L" Series Lens ???

Hi you all, and welcome to my second blog:Since i did my recent first ever photo shoot with a model (circa 6 weeks ago), i have stopped to reflect on what i produced in that shoot and comparing it with what i want to produce in the future.Looking back, i consider my first shoot actually a little of a disappointment to myself. If i were to redo that shoot i would produce more lighting in the background to give the walls a brighter “white”, and possibly I’d have painted the wall an appropriate... continue reading
