Product photography: my first experience

As you can see, I have some experience with photoshoots with models, so I thought that product photography was easy.Last week my daughter asked me to take some pictures of crocheting she makes and sells via her Etsy webshop, DC crochet Design. She was facing some shortcomings of smartphones to do product photography. So, yesterday I grabbed my equipment and turned one of our bedrooms into a small photo studio. I have done something similar before so the first steps were easy.-... continue reading

Color management for dummies

Sorry for the title, I didn't mean to insult anyone, just wanted to get your attention. Now that I have it, let's talk about color profiles and color management.    Without going too deep into color theory or technical specifications, lets just me just say that color profiles are a tool meant to help content creators make sure their audience sees everything the same way they do. Lightroom and Photoshop, let's share opinions and tips!

It looks like the images take new life and I feel... continue reading

Photoshop Lightroom 4

First, let me explain my experience with post-processing to give you an idea of my skill level.I began with Photoshop 3 with a little instruction from a colleague and upgraded to Photoshop 4 when I had the opportunity a little later on.In time, I felt Photoshop was just too vast to learn fluently with the little time I could allocate to photography and especially post-processing.However, I found most of the changes I cared about were within the Camera RAW plugin found within all versions of... continue reading
