While reviewing a featured photographer's portfolio, I saw a perfect opportunity to write about the judicious use of makeup on women models. Nothing better illustrates how makeup can lend authenticity to a model in different situations than photographer Niderlander’s four shots of the same model made up in different ways for four different situations/moods/time of dayIn the first image of a researcher or medical tech, the makeup is extremely subdued as is fitting in that situation. Most... continue reading

My first official assignment as a freelance photojournalist (June 26th, 2016) began fairly calmly--on a nice, Sunday morning--simply shooting photos of a rally and counter-protest at the California State Capitol Building, in Sacramento. The sky was clear and there was a light breeze rustling the mature trees on the Capitol lawn as I stood across the street--cameras harnessed and press credentials hanging around my neck--eating a PB&J and wondering if this assignment was going to be worth the gas... continue reading
Googling around I found that the majority of photographers concentrates on nature and its representations... I also noticed that a good quantity of microstock photos are picturing animals and landscapes. Despite of what sells more, it's good that every photographer does what it's better for his skills, and not that he tries to emulate others. I myself feel better when shooting dog breeds, and you can find some tips about it here. The main important thing in doing naturalistic photography... continue reading

Тhis time of new technologies, the time when everyone is taking photographs, has created a false image in our society that photography, and photojournalism in particular, is something anyone can do. You come, click the button and it's done - as ignorants would say! This book has been conceived as an identity card of Vojvodinian photojournalists (North serbian province), to draw the attention to the significance and necessity of the existence of photojournalism as a profession, as it is seriously... continue reading

We often come across a great opportunity for that perfect shot but either miss it or capture it wrong if we are new to serious photography. Here's a little list of things I'd suggest. Most of these are already taken care of by your camera but just in case your camera isn't one of the smartest available... better not lose it for that.1. CHECK YOUR ISO! It's such a damned thing if you have a point and shoot that wants you to impress you with fast shutter speed. Some cameras actually prefer setting... continue reading
I love it when I reach a goal...It at least makes me feel like I have accomplished something. One goal I set for myself was to have 400 images uploaded and accepted to Dreamstime, and to have at least 100 sales. well I did make it to the 400 mark this week, although I seem to be stuck on 70 in the sales department. however I am confident that number will change. As 2012 comes to a close, it makes me more aware that 2013 will be a good year to once again sit down and set goals. one, it gives me... continue reading
