Can You Make a Living From Stock Photography?

This is a question my parents ask me all the time, right before they insert the annoying phrase, “maybe you should get a real job”. You see, they’re old fashioned and grew up in a time when careers were the norm, together with a stable pension. The world has changed considerably and the pace of change is accelerating.Nowadays, it’s not only much easier to become your own boss but it’s expected! Stock photography is just a small part of the much larger ‘gig economy’, where traditional... continue reading

Multi Generations living together- Care for your Elders

Our family now has four generations living in two households just a few streets apart. We moved my Mom and her cat from Florida to be with us so she could spend more time with family and we could actively assist with her care as she grows older. We just completed an addition to our home that is a private studio apartment so she can continue to live independently and we have some privacy too. We added features like lights and faucets on timers since she is prone to forgetting to turning them... continue reading

Approaching this year Ramadan... concepts...

I'm not a Muslim, but I felt involved in Ramadan concept once "known its sense"... and that's why I want to spend a few words about this spiritual period of year, respecting it and opening others' eyes on it. In this overpopulated world, where integration is the basis to fit all cultures together, where war for a God is unfortunately a reality to denigrate, Ramadan practice offers a way to our spirits to be better, to become better persons... Let's think about it: Ramadan is the... continue reading

Model Norma - Living With Cancer

When it comes to photography, I am most drawn to those images of people who are naturally sincere and whose emotions come from the heart. Such is the case with Norma.Norma is not a trained model, but by looking at her photos and bright and warm smile, she needs no training. Norma was diagnosed with Stage 2 Aggressive Invasive Ductile Carcinoma HER2 Positive breast cancer (a protein cancer) in early 2015.While some of the photos do not even hint at an illness, others do show the progression... continue reading

Can I make a living in photography? That is the question!

In hindsight, it really boils down to two things, and two things only: luck, and how badly you want it. Without either, you don’t have a career. Remember, you are going into a profession that has no regulation of standards, cutthroat competition, a highly subjective, non-scalable product, and high capital investment. You can be technically competent, professional, and be ready…but if every potential client you approach says no, or you don’t get a break, then you will ultimately run out of money.... continue reading
