An Artistic Impression of Europe

London, England As I walked through the interior of Buckingham Palace, I could feel the grandeur and sense of royalty. Although photos are not allowed to be taken inside the Palace, I will paint a picture: Columns and ornamentation gilded in gold, walls lined with famous works of art, and extravagant crystal chandeliers are in every room. The ballroom held an exhibit of the current Queen’s fashion for the past 90 years. The attention to detail via beading and diamonds presented a work of art... continue reading

Early Morning Walk Around London

While visiting relatives in London recently I was itching to get around the sites with my camera, but the weather just wasn't playing ball, of course. I got up on the final morning, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. With a couple of hours before we were scheduled to leave, I headed out. Here are a few of the shots I managed to get. Hope you like.      continue reading

Tower Bridge London

Good morning, I'd like to share my impression of Tower Bridge, London, with you.At first, I was impressed by it's giant size. The breadth of the road surface, the big rivets and steel beams, the overall length...you got to see it to understand! Of course, it is still one photographers opinion ;-) The construction looks robust, and it is nicely painted. Perhaps the river Thames itself also contributes to my opinion about Tower Bridge, its breadth is enormous. Anyway, if you are... continue reading

Old monastery makes new medicine

It is fascinating to enjoy the history of plants. There is an original London Plane tree in the Botanic Garden of Oxford that gave rise to the common tree species that line many of London's roads today.By shedding it's bark continually this species is not affected by the pollution of the road traffic.Other plants that linger in the gardens of old churches are often the remains of the monasteries that once stood on the site.Henry VIII famously dissolved many of the monasteries. The ones that... continue reading

Big (and small) Ben

Walking past Houses of Parliament at night the history of all the politicians that made an impact on history hangs in the air.No matter what time of day it is a scuffle to get past the photographers stood opposite Westminster Abbey with their cameras facing Big Ben.Even with Downing Street, The Changing of the Guards and the Abbey just a minute away I always find the biggest crowd gathered near Big Ben for the iconic London photo. The memorabilia around London tourist shops make more... continue reading

Revisiting London and Mersea Island (as a tourist!)

Had the pleasure to take my kids inside the Palace of Westminster and got this close up in the grounds on 'Big Ben' as people like to call it. This building is amazing inside, just stunning and humbling. Also went to West Mersea and saw this pic waiting to be captured - vessels getting ready for the Regatta. Topped it off sailing to the Clacton Airshow and seeing the Vulcan fly overhead. continue reading
