What ever you call it, macro photography (taken with a macro lens or a micro lens as one manufacturer calls their macro lens) is NOT simply a close-up image. What’s the difference between"close-ups", "macros", and "micrographs" (also known as "micro-photographs" or "photomicrographs")A ‘close-up’ refers to any image zoomed or cropped into a detail such as the close-up of the woman’s lips or the golf ball and club. Another example: Take a photo of a fly in a bowl of soup. It will... continue reading

Hi there! I want to share with you from my point of view the five most unique beaches in Crete island of Greece.5. On the 5th place is Matala. Matala beach is located 70 km southwest of Heraklion. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Crete and certainly the most famous beach of Heraklion. It is famous for the carved caves in the rocks and the hippies of the ‘70s. The bay is a beautiful long sandy beach, 300m long, with fine gravel and crystal clear water. 4.... continue reading
When I first began transitioning from photojournalism to what I consider my fine-art photography, I was a bit nervous that the bees swarming around me would sense my apprehension and perhaps sting me. I am highly allergic to bee stings.Eventually, after having them land all over my body and equipment, I developed a quiet "bee zen," in which I really came to love their little critters. I was often so mesmerized by them that I wouldn't even take photos for a while as I watched them.This... continue reading
For many years as a boy and young adult, I could not be around flowers or blossoms because of the risk of severe allergy and asthma attacks. I would long for the time when I could be around flowers and blossoms and enjoy them like my Grandma Hill and everyone else.Grandma loved flowers so much, and always had something blooming in her yard in spring and summer, whether in Goleta or Freshwater, Calif., where I grew up.By my late 20s, my allergies subsided to the point where I could be around... continue reading
The photo (below) in this post of the Snowdrops in my backyard turned out very well. (See the full frame photo in my portfolio). But, it wasn't necessarily going to happen without a bit of planning before snapping the shutter. Here are a few simple steps to consider when you are walking by a nice setting of flowers in order to increase the chances of taking a great shot.If you simply photograph the flowers from waist height you would find that the angle is too high and the distance too great.... continue reading
Spring is surely near and in some countries its already started with cherry trees blossoming. It's amazing time that comes with festivals around the world. It's called "Hanami" in Japan or if you translate it will mean "cherry blossom viewing".So i would really love to see it with my own eyes :) But for now i drew some watercolor cherry flowers myself. Cherry petals must be like snow in the wind. Spring time is wonderful time of a year. Trees are reviving with new leaves, new flowers,... continue reading
I have reached my first 10 sales and I´m so so happy about it. But I would like to say one thing. Sometimes we are playing off photographers and forget that our art is not exatly "our". Don´t get me wrong :) Most of all I prefer the nature photo. What nature can conjure up is more than wonderful. In this moment is important only to focus on the right detail of the huge colorful spectrum. I love the details which is unavailable for people without a gift - "stop for a while, calm yourself... continue reading
I live in a country that offers a great variety of panoramas... it's quite difficult to choose what is better, so when I am in relax time I usually bring my camera with me to be "ready" for occasional shots... This up here is a sunset shot of a mid-march serene day. It was taken on the seaside here in my Country, Italy, Vibo Valentia, on Mediterranean sea. This period of the year is quite calm for tourists, so people of the place use this port for commercial reasons, preferably in fisheries... continue reading
April in Poland isn’t especially a month for making trips and sight-seeing a lot, because of the weather. Usually is it too cold for it.But ones is must! Chocholowska Valley about crocus blossoming time. This year were so many people there, that it was impossible toget directly there, but – as I’ve said – crocuses surrounded as. continue reading
