Discover a brand new world of colors and shapes. To dive into that adventure, best solution is to get a macro lens with reverse ring. With macro extensions as alternative solution you can’t get such great results. Besides that, macro lenses can be used as remarkable portrait lenses with amazing sharpness. They allow taking photos from low distance so that distance should be only few centimeters.Macro photographs are ones with enlargement of subject in proportion 1:1, or higher 2:1, 3:1 and so on.... continue reading

A couple of years ago somebody showed me some pictures of macro photography. They looked interesting, however, it did not resonate with me. Now, many years later, I read some booksand looked at videos on Youtube. It turns out that macro photography is a lot more than taking pictures of plants and insects and laying on the ground. So, there was a growing interest. After realising that my regular lenses would not suffice, I looked at possible cheap adjustments:- close-up filters are put on a regular... continue reading
Dear Dreamstimers,I would like to share my experience with new full frame flaghsip from Nikon, model D850. To be honest, full frame isn't my "weapon of choice" due to its price level, weight and size - and it counts lenses also. As almost everyday user of APS-C format DSLR and occasional user of Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras i was of course curious where full format is heading. I mentioned tough battle between APS-C and Micro Four Thirds in my previous blog about new mirrorless flagship... continue reading
Hi, I'm Antony and I came to be a photographer via engineering, popular music, plumbing, classical music, building maintenance, separation, divorce, fine art painting, college lecturing and caring for an elderly relative. Doubtless you are thinking this was a rather circuitous route! Life is what it is, it does what it does and if you let it, it will take you on a significant journey. Alternatively you could end up photographing bugs in your back garden, dreaming of the day you can retire and... continue reading
Tomorrow I am going to my first ever proper photography event. The local birds of prey centre has photography days every now and then, and I am going to one.The reason I am going is because my camera-related behaviour has led my family to view me as a cause for concern. It’s the school summer holidays in England at present, which means that it has been raining quite a bit. This, alongside my attempts to keep my son from permanently attaching himself to things with screens, has rather limited... continue reading
My favourite type of photography is almost certainly macro. Ideally, the type of macro that involves chasing small insects around to no avail in summertime, although I do also have a soft spot for grovelling around in decaying leaves in autumn in order to photograph fungi. When people hear of (or, even worse, witness) my predilection for adopting unseemly poses in public places they often, perfectly reasonably, ask what caused me to embrace this strange behaviour pattern. It’s a fair... continue reading
This article is describing the technique I'm using to achieve high quality extreme macro photos, for magnifications beyond 3x, up to 10x (possible up to 20x).This means that the subject frame is between 3 and 20 times smaller than the physical sensor dimensions (i.e. 22.2mm for APS-C).This also means that creatures even below a few millimeters in real life, can almost fill the whole screen, revealing amazing, incredible details, unknown to the naked eye! Here are a few examples:... continue reading
Hello guys,How are you?52 images are not much. I know that, but it's a start. Hopefully I will be able to upload more in a short time since I'm aware of the quantity factor here. I'm sure everybody are trying hard to upload their best images, and I know it takes time and effort. The last batch that I uploaded contained some landscapes and textures for background, or for matters such as health and nutrition. But... I really enjoy macro shooting and therefore uploaded some image of pushpins... continue reading
Some years ago I followed a course from a famous Dutch photographer. Well, he won some cool prices, but I didn't know anything about Dies Groot.Until I followed the course that is. And I must say it was great to see so many like-minded people crammed together in one room, talking about photos in general and judging eachother works. I was scared about my showing my work, since - well - I love making photos, but I never considered craeting a job out of it. Luckily for me, they did like my... continue reading
