New Lens

Hi DT Family,Today I got my new Canon EF-100mm Macro Lens. Its cool lens with fast focusing speed. I am pretty happy with that. Thank you very much for helping me choose right lens for me as earlier I asked all of you in my previous blog's Article Macro Lens? Confusion?. This lens offers me great working distance (Minimum 15 cm) which is quite good. The Blur and bokeh created by the lens is awesome. One of the main benefit of such fixed focal length lens is that you don't have to worry about f-... continue reading

How to do Macro Photography

When we take macro photography pictures, we have three choices of optical solution: special macro lenses, intermediate rings (extension tubes) or bellows, and macro filters, which are screwed to the lens, just like a typical photographic filter. And please remember about a tripod. It seems essential to use the SLR, because even though compact cameras usually have the macro mode, it usually doesn’t allow taking pictures of smaller flowers or insects (not to mention overall quality of the photos).... continue reading

Macro underwater

Some of the most interesting shots taken underwater are of small stuff. Macro photography is certainly a lot of fun underwater as small subjects are often very colorful and have interesting shapes/patterns. Here a few examples of macros (taken with the Nikon D2x and a 105mm Micro lens in a Subal housing) from my portfolio...Harlequin shrimp, this guy is about 1 inch long and is feed on the sea start beneath it.A pigmy seahorse, this is the smallest subject I ever photographed,... continue reading

Hopefully the next hundred arrives faster :)And of course, the picture used at the right is my 600th image accepted at DT. It is a young blossom of garlic pressing out from the stalk. continue reading

Over The Top Finally At 100 + Uploads And Macro Photography

I had originally aimed at breaking the 100 upload barrier within my first year as a member of DT, but instead it took me 14 months but I finally managed to break the 100 upload barrier and am now sitting at 103 accepted uploads. Now I plan on taking dead aim at the 200 upload barrier by the end of 2010. That may seem a bit ambitious but with each passing upload it gives me a better idea on what DT expects to see in an image for it to qualify and be accepted. I wish to thank all of my fellow DT photographers... continue reading

I hope to bit soon pictures of small objects, flowers or insects that I will have to go and try ... continue reading

Getting closer

My last blog article was a submitted a really long time ago, somewhere in November 2009 which was about discovering a new world. This one is mostly like a follow-up.So, first of all, the lens was actually MP-E 65mm, not 60mm. But 5mm more or less, i guess not a big difference :DA short overview what i have achieved with it. As i've said the lens is fully manual and therefore a lot of time for good shots is needed. Although the lens is quite new to me, i may say i've got some good shots last... continue reading
