The idea of free images makes the budget minded sing and some artists cringe. How can it be a good idea to give away what you are trying to sell? On the one hand is the sanctity of the copyright. On the other is the spirit of the Internet and an age-old marketing ploy: the free sampleWay back when in the dark ages of flight when planes were choked with cigarette smoke, everything was free…food, drinks and on every meal tray, a slim package of cigarettes provided for after meal enjoyment... continue reading

Images that reflect the current turmoil in world financial markets and it's impact on key industries will be in the news and show up in print and online for months (years?) to come whetherthe economy plunges further or rebounds quickly. What goes up, must come down but will the opposite occur? What images can you createfor users on both sides of the recession/recovery coin?Retirees fear losses in their investments at the same time that the family home that they planned on cashing in... continue reading
There could be many reasons why we are here. I can assure you many are here because they desire to sell their photographs and make some extra cash.Having joined with that good intention, the reality on the ground is not what you initially envisaged. Sales are low. Not only low, they are frustrating. And you may be thinking what’s going on?I can bet you, you are not alone. One fact we all agree and which we need to remind ourselves is that Dreamstime LLC does not buy images. It’s... continue reading
Last week I was surprised by four niche sales of the city Zwolle, no subscriptions, fully paid. Most of you probably don't even know where Zwolle is located.Like most of you I have architectural pictures of London and Paris. Dreamstime has plenty of pictures of these famous cities. Resulting in very few sales for me. I sell more pictures of for example Beijing and Machu Picchu. The reason is probably that it is more difficult to go there. The same is true for Zwolle, few... continue reading
This article is not about supermarkets. It’s about stock photography and how to sell more images. But first, a few words about supermarkets: A century old business modelThe concept of supermarket, in its various forms, appeared about a hundred years ago. It generally consists in a self-service grocery store, where shelves are stocked at night, so the customers can choose the goods by themselves the following day, add them to a cart and pay for them at the exit. Seems familiar?The... continue reading
Sometimes in my city there are food markets. Some restaurants put their food and drinks, you could buy and try. Immediately plays the music, you can communicate directly with the cafe's owners and chefs. It is Very atmospheric. It's Really about the food. continue reading
My adventure in photography getting a bit more wider since I accepted the truth that I have the obligation of carrying a camera with me where ever I go. This is relatively freeing because I don't have to make plans to go out shooting anymore - since I have my camera with me I'm always out shooting when I go out. This makes possible to me to take photography inside of grocery stores in the small town I'm living. Best part of living in a place like this that people are (at least... continue reading

From the simplest but trying to do it as useful and professionally as possible,no need for model release (it is not necessary in this case) because we can not see the face of the model, so everything works faster and simplerAnd the best of everything, the model is me, nobody better than I could know exactly what I look for in each photograph, and it's free, there we go continue reading
I like traveling, taking pictures and I like good food too. I admire marketeers, for example, on French and Italian markets and street stands, how long and beautifully they describe about producing cheese or sausageyou want to buy.In the beautiful Provence - in the city of Arles, the marketeer so beautifully described the cheese and its production. I can´t French, but I think we were understood very well. Conversely, a few years agoimpressed me twoyoungladieswho have gone... continue reading
