Comparing Yourself With Others

Emerson says "Envy is ignorance, Imitation is Suicide." -- I learned the hard and painful way that comparing yourself with others - no matter what it is about - is simply torturing yourself and killing all your creativity. You may think this is being self-righteous but since I stopped trying to imitate other artists I become much more creative because I've felt free -- the feeling of that freedom gave me the freedom of creativity. I admire fellow artists works but I don't envy.... continue reading

Write with the light

Hello allI'm delighted by the great family of dremastime photographers, I've been photographed for many years, and I started this work since the film was there. I've always liked black and white photos but now digital has replaced everything. I think every photographer has the picture in mind before I take it and I firmly believe that estro and fantasy are very important before having a beautiful and expensive camera.A board does not follow a fashion but try to see and interpret your reality in... continue reading

Get rid of blocking thoughts, free up your mind to do what you like

About 6 to 7 months ago, I lost all interest in photography. From one to the other day, it was simply gone. I couldnt find a reason within myself. I searched a lot, did a lot of meditation, NLP etc, but I couldnt find any reason why I had lost all interest in something I truly loved to do before.I tried to let it go, bannishing the blocking thoughts, but that was easier said then done. Months went by before I contacted a former NLP teacher of mine, and I asked if he would be able to help me, by... continue reading

Get into the mind of your customer

After reading the blogs and message boards here for several years there is one thing that really sticks out in my mind - that is that photographer's do a lot of talking to each other, sharing information with each other, hooting and hollering, praising and complaining, about being the ups and downs of being a contributor......But precious little time is spent talking TO the buyers of our images.99% of the messages and blogs are from the contributors perspective. One of the most important... continue reading

Mind the size

I just wanted to share a personal observation with the rest of the contributors. Maybe a lot of you are already aware of this but I guess some of you are not. So, it's about the maximum size we should save our images/illustrations. The thing is that if you upload images with resolution higher than 30 megapixels they won't be converted to TIFF format and you won't get the extra credits for the TIFF size in case of sale. This applies most to illustrations, collages and panoramas as these types of images... continue reading

Bodywork

Tomorrow I'm having a deep tissue treatment with an "intuitive" healer. I've been living with an injury I sustained about 4 months ago while transitioning from a bound lunge into a bound triangle. These last three weeks I finally stopped going to class and focused my yoga practice on cooling the injured leg and that has made a big improvement. Hopefully tomorrows experience will completely release whatever happened there. I'm also looking forward to someone focusing all their energy on me. I am feeling... continue reading

The Practical Keyworder - The Mind of the User

The Practical Keyworder - The Mind of the UserThere is a saying among librarians that "every book has its reader and for every reader, a book". Information organization is designed around this principle and this philosophy is relevant for any type of information that needs to found, including visual information. For every image on our site there is someone for whom that image is the perfect thing - exactly what they were looking for. But how to bring together the perfect image and the perfect... continue reading
