> The last batch I got accepted marked my 200 images milestone. Despite this great achievement I feel a little disappointed that I have only 35 sales. Is this a good amount? Should I be happy with how things are rolling along?I feel that I have a pretty strong database of varying images, but am falling behind with generating sales. Honestly I'm not one to "toot my own horn" all that often, I don't want to flood my social media accounts with me shouting about my work, although I do post stuff... continue reading

I started to learn photography in January 2013 with a 3 months intensive school, when I learned the basics, and after the school I kept learning from different tutorials and books, trying out what I learned. Finally, after I changed entry level croppedframe Nikon to full frame Nikon, I started to get pictures I want. It was a constant effort and learning. Now I got the technical side, but still am in a process to understand, what makes pictures attractive and interesting. I know some basic composition... continue reading
Well that was exciting! Hydee actually saw the sale first on her Facebook, as DT automatically posted for me.This image was my first sale on DT. I expected to be able to see some information on who purchased it, or what they plan to use it for. But, from what I could see, I can only check my earnings balance or look at my uploaded pictures to see which have been downloaded. Is there more information hidden somewhere that I am missing? continue reading
Since starting to contribute to Dreamstime, I've been driving all around this past summer and fall looking for people, places and things to photograph. Now that the leaves and temperature have fallen and the sky's are gray, I've started moving indoors and have been experimenting with a DIY home studio in a spare bedroom. My supplies include a roll of white paper from Staples, black and white poster board and some 300 watt CFLs I found at Home Depot.Lately I've added a new flash unit, found... continue reading
After 20 years of living outside of the US, 2 years in Bermuda and 18 years in Japan, I am finally moving back to the US next month. After first I was a little upset about the move as I will really miss Japan.Japan is such a great place to live. After some thought, however, I started to think about all of the great opportunities awaiting me in the US.Just think about all of the pictures a move will generate.I can not wait. The movers will be here in 6 days so lots of pictures of packing should... continue reading
Now for a complete change of pace from the previous blog post... or so you might think! This type of shot has been fairly well documented on the internet already but let's face it, what hasn't? So what I thought I would do is talk more about the thought process than the actual kit.Having said that, you do need a certain amount of kit to get these shots but I'll keep it brief. You could argue that the actual camera is the least important part of the jigsaw here. You don't even need remote... continue reading
I've just moved again, which will make my current residence in the mountains of North Carolina the fourth state I've lived in so far in my life.I'm so excited to be in this area of the country. I've always wanted to live in the mountains, and I get the chance to now.The road to greener pastures was a difficult one: I broke up with my longterm boyfriend; got fired; had to move in with my parents for a few months; thought I had a new job but they got downsized before they could hire me; got turned... continue reading
