Way LOUD

Sound is invisible and depicting it in images is even more challenging than photographs of wind that I have written about previously. From the sound of music to the stress producing noise of an early morning garbage truck, images that show ‘sound’ can be indispensable in promotional messages and ads as well as being essential to certain businesses and non-profitsWithout a doubt the most famous photo showing sound is this one by Steve Steigman for Maxwell cassettes in the 1980’s. The image... continue reading

How I calm down

I will not ask you to cook, follow a ten-steps routine, go to an anger management course, call your psychiatrist, drink until you fall under the table and sleep, take some medicines, drink herbal tea, eat chocolate. I have never followed any of these, at least not when angry, moody, and needed calming down. I tend to swear a lot :)... but I do have another excellent remedy for angry, frustrated, annoyed, stressed, overworked people out here and there.Music! - did i hear a disappointed awwwww? I... continue reading

Fete de la Musique 2017 in Lyon

The "Fete de la Musique" (french for "Music Festival") takes place every June, 21 since 1982. It was originated by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, to celebrate the longer days of solstice, and permit a lot of amateur musicians to express themselves on the streets of french cities, in numbers of free shows. Here are some of my pictures of the 2017 festival.     continue reading

My Unusual hobby

Well....amongst my hobby's, I have one that is rather unusual. I'm part of a team which maintains theatre pipe organs...The Mighty Wurlitzer. For quite some time I've been helping out with looking after the very last Wurlitzer organ to come to the UK. The "old girl" as we call her, is still in it's original home and the specification as original as the day it was installed in 1939.The Blackpool Opera House Wurlitzer was specified by Horace Finch - then organist of the Empress Ballroom, playing... continue reading

Sharing the latest

Hey Dreamstime fellow membersI recently had an amazing session with beautiful model and talented violinist Melanie Carrasquillo, and I wanted to share the experience with you guys. We started the shoot walking around Old San Juan (the capital city of Puerto Rico, constructed in the 1500s by Spain colonists) and taking photos at the street and sidewalks to the bemusement of tourists and locals alike    We found a home that was being remodeled and asked for permission... continue reading

How a disappointment can turn into joy and happiness

What a pity! It was my first thought when I saw a small boy’s back appeared right in front of my camera. I was taking pictures of a musical band performing in a city park, and the show was really hot! A beautiful woman danced in latino-style, musicians played drums, guitars and other instruments. It’s obvious that nobody could resist and many people came to see them and to dance!A small boy was one of the viewers, and he decided to come as closer as possible and enjoy! There were many photographers,... continue reading

1000 downloads (with a bullet)

For sometime I have been anticipating being able to post about reaching my 1000th download here on Dreamstime. With around 950 downloads I had expected that this post would still be a while in coming. However, all that changed last Sunday (yes, a Sunday!) when I checked my sales figures to find some 54 new downloads all in one day. With a bullet indeed :)What had sold (obviously to the same buyer) were virtually all my B/W archive images of British rock bands from 1978/1979. Back then I used... continue reading
