Mobile and DSLR in the Same Portfolio

For some time, DT has offered the ability to submit photos from mobile devices, which was inevitable with the direction that tablet and cellular phone cameras have improved drastically from the original flip phone devices. That being said, I am a fairly new stock photographer, and I am learning everyday.I have posted photos with my canon, but I have also taken some photos with a Samsung S5 with custom settings. Some are completely against mobile device photography being listed, while others... continue reading

A GPS alternative for Nikon DSLRs

I am a Nikon DSLR user. And since I travel quite frequently I want a GPS device to geotag my photos. A GPS is handy not just for inserting the photo coordinates. But especially since dreamstime has a Geo-location link, when you submit the photo it will show it's shooting position on the map or satellite imagery, providing of course that the photo has GPS coordinates in the metadata. And it is extremely useful to know where exactly did you take a certain picture in order to submit an accurate description... continue reading

Rookie on Dreamstime. Finally!

Hi shooters! Finally got my stock pictures accepted by Dreamstime! After a few rejections I finally did it. It's a great motivation to see your photos were accepted.I started shooting a few months ago. Bought old used Nikon D300 with Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5 plus I bought Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 which is great and started shooting. Yes you are right, first images were crappy. But it´s great to see that improvement when you shooting everyday with a goal to get on some stock sites. Your vision and technique... continue reading

For Nikon D800 users

Hello everybody, I just wanted to share an experience I had with DT that took me a while to figure out.I have been uploading RAW files taken with a Nikon D300 as additional format with every submission with no problems. It was after I started using a Nikon D800 with the "uncompressed RAW" setting when I could not upload files on this format anymore. After sending several inquiries to Costumer support and not getting a valid response or solution, it occur to me that maybe there's a "limit on... continue reading

Tamron

I'm super happy with my new lens Tamron SP AF 70-200/2, 8 Di IF Macro for Nikon AF, takes great pictures in all conditions and is an affordable lens.Should you invest in a new lens so I recommend this lens, its without stabilizer, but if you can photograph technology so this does not make any significant without. continue reading

Nikon launches retro Df as DSLR camera sales slow

As it's wisely and frequently been pointed out, the best camera is the one that is with you. My Nikon DSLR is not huge by pro camera standards - but it's still too big to go with me all the time. The camera in question lives in a big green backpack alongside other photographic “essentials” - a 70-200 f2.8, wide zoom, filters, flash triggers and a SB flash. That's just the stuff that fits in the bag. There are mono pods, tripods, studio flashes, background sets, large reflectors, small reflectors,... continue reading

My first 3 images approved. It has given me confidence to do better.

Here is my story.I have been reading about dreamstime.com approval, quality of images, price plans, payment methods, blog etc for more than a year. I got a new DSLR Nikon D5200 18-105mm few weeks ago. Saw videos about how to take good and sharp images and about camera settings in certain conditions. I took about 400 photos one day at a historical place (Lahore Fort - 400 years old) at Lahore. My real focus was to take photos that can sell better. So I took shots of wall textures, stairs and old... continue reading

2 first times on the same night

Hi all,It is quite a while since my last Blog but this time I have a really good reason to have a new one. Last week the european soccer championship for squads under 21 had started. It is the first time (and proably also last) Israel will host such a turnament. We are not a part of Europe's soccer leading nations so this is probably a one-timer.Saying that it was really awesome to see a match between England and Italy (first time #1). The match was quite good and interesting as England had... continue reading

Which camera brand?

Lately, I attended a portrait photography seminar. When it all started, the teacher asked the group to divide itself in two : those with Canon cameras on the left side and those with Nikon on the right side. The people with other camera brands had to go with the group that had less people, in our case the Nikon group. That little episode reminded me of how I struggled when came the time to buy my camera. Which camera brand to go for? After reading A LOT of stuff on the internet and in magazines... continue reading
