Ok, so on my homeopath's orders I have stopped taking milk in my coffee. 9 years ago another homeopath booked me off sugar in my coffee. So what is my finding after 3 weeks of black, bitter coffee? What have I been missing! It seems like coffee has REAL flavour now. Can you imagine? That by diluting it, I've actually taken the real beauty out of the drink. Now the question is: do I do that with photography? Do I dilute my work with commercial cleverness to make it more susceptible to the buying... continue reading

I finally took the plunge and bought a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR.Up to this point I've strictly done 3D renders, but I've been secretly pining for a DSLR and this one was just the right price.I'm a nerd, a geek, a four-eyed technology junkie... so I've been reading every blog, every web site I can find about the T2i.I've checked out every photography book I could at my local library and I've taken two classes on photography at a local camera store.I've even read the *gasp* user's manual from... continue reading
Since becoming a fulltime stock photographer I have been inundated with requests from family and friends to photograph them, their pets, their homes etc. Most of the time these shoots are a fun way to do something nice for the people I care about, as well as provide me with a great opportunity to expand my portfolio. However there is one request that I have always turned down with a very definite no, and that is weddings.I find it frustrating when a young 'bride to be', (one who's spent a small... continue reading
I've seen a post or two from people saying how difficult it is to get images accepted with low end cameras. Your ability with what you can do may be limited, but the truth is, low-end cameras take excellent pictures. There are a few of you out there where photography is in your blood, you're always out taking pictures, but you just don't have the means to purchase a good SLR. You've tried submitting images but keep getting rejections for quality issues. It could be that you've just never learned one... continue reading

Here it is: download no 7000.I'd like to reward the downloader, but don't know who he or she might be. Well, that's the microstocker's life. Which I actually pretty much like. :)Is it a sign I have to work harder next year? I'll take it as yes...Best wishes to all microstockers and downloaders! continue reading

Hi all you Dreamstimers.I suppose you are experiencing the same frustrations which I have at the moment: work like mad and do not get the acceptances you want. I am very fond of nature photography. Living on the beautiful coastline of Mossel Bay (South Africa) I cannot resist the temptation to shoot and to shoot because you have all the opportunities in the world to get the most awesome shots. That is what I have done since I got involved in micro stock, but the result is very disappointing when... continue reading
