Hello everyone, its my first blog so excuse me if i ramble. Its Saturday morning here, and i am reading some great blogs about sales and number of uploads, and i start to think i am out of my depth. You see i am only on 45 uploads, no sales and keep letting myself down with silly mistakes on refused files (although i am more brutal with my own selections now). And then i just take a look at my profile, and i smile. Thats mine i created that, WOW. They may not be the best but i see how far... continue reading

So it's Sunday today and I went out and shot a lot of images yesterday so I'm kind of chilling today pouring over my images and thought wow its been a very long time since I blogged, so upon sitting down in front of my computer I pondered what to blog about.... hmmm.... I could write about how its been three years since I joined Dreamstime and what my experiences have been, but then I thought nawl thats been done plenty and would just be plain boring to read, and then I thought hey write about how... continue reading
Two years ago I moved into the house where I currently live and it's a place on the edge of the metropolitan area. Here the subdivisions crash into farmland so you get a mix of neighborhoods and fields corn, depending on which street you're on. I like to go for walks, mainly just to stay healthy, but I find the walks have a way of giving the brain a chance to work through the the problems of the day or to just wander. If I have the time I will walk for four miles, which takes about an hour. The halfway... continue reading
One of the easiest ways to sell pictures of people doing things is to submit them as an editorial image because you don't need a model release when used in this context. The alternative is to arrange for a model and set up planned shots.Sometimes, this creates an image that does not feel as real as a candid shot taken of an knowing or unknowing subject doing something naturally.Unfortunately in the later case, most of the time you are not going to secure a model release from people who... continue reading
I'm bored!there's nothing to take pictures of!gosh I live in a flat, yucky part of the world.. now if I lived (___fill in the blank) then I would have the best photos and the most sales here!If only I could win the lottery and travel all over the word, the best camera you can buy strapped around my neck...Have to admit.. doesn't some of those phrases run blithely across our minds at least a few times a day? well summer is here and I have to admit, its hot, I'm broke, and I'm working two... continue reading
When you have nothing to shoot you can go to the nearest bus-stop and shoot running cars. Use different shutter-speed for different effects. To freeze motion but still have wheels moving - around 1/1500, to make a natural motion blur - 1/20 or less. It's easier to make running cars images in manual mode, because it gives you a chance to choose suitable aperture and ISO depending on light conditions. Automate may just refuse to work properly or it can all the time make similar images according to it'... continue reading
For far too long I have been saying to myself, come one … try and isolate a few images that you can offer up into the freebies.I've read many a posting for and against, I gotta say I somewhat torn between the two schools of thought on this subject matter. But what I have to remember, probably we should all have to remember that at the end of the day if the item has been in your library for over a year, and not made a sale, at the end of the day … what are you loosing by offering it up as... continue reading
is it possible that as a newbie we sometimes try to be so full of it that we spin our wheels? getting everything but going nowhere, so to speak,my point for this blog is --- are you an incredible niche, or just a super copy ?we all have been there before. whether it's in sports, where we try to ape the jock to get all the babes. or in music, where we try to be the next Elvis or Jimi Hendrix. i remember when i was playing in a band, we had a foreign group that played nothing but the music of... continue reading
