SR-EL

I'm not sure if the buyer will ever read this, but I'd like to say a special thank you you for purchasing one of my images with the SR-EL license. The picture was taken during a cycling trip from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching. I remember exactly when it was taken, mostly because of the sheer amount of blood lost to mosquitos! It was around 4 in the morning when the electricity went out at the beach cabin I was staying in for the night, and all of the mosquito killing and warding off measures were rendered... continue reading

Taking pictures in harsh cold

I was recently taking pictures outside in a temperature about -30C. I noticed that at such temperature, when you repeatedly take off your lens cap or changing filters without gloves or thin cloves that are warm due to your own body temperature, then it may happen that your filter glass or the front element of the lens (if not using filters) freeze up due to humid and warmth coming from the thin gloves or bare hand. When the the front glass or filter is frosty, then it is highly suggested not to scratch... continue reading

It's editing time!

Severe winter has come to Ukraine, up to -25 C out there... Not quite comfortable time for shooting, and my models are sitting at warm houses and offices. I do understand those, who pack for India or Australia these days. Oh, I wish I could do the same! But no chance for me this year, so it's time to sit comfortably, grab my notebook and start editing pics from the previous photoshoots. Hello Photoshop and isolation tools! How would you spend such a frosty month? :) continue reading
