One Sunday, we were coming back from a trip to the coast at Torre Del Mar in Andalucia. I always take my camera along with me because you never know what you might see but it was too windy on the coast but the sea was quite calm, so I didn't take many pictures at all and decided to go home. The drive back is pretty much all uphill and with winding roads but very picturesque, so, it's always a pleasure to do. About halfway into the journey to where we were staying, we saw a little bit of... continue reading

I am often interested in the history of the location that I am photographing. By providing some context to the age of the building being photographed I can hopefully address the needs of some image purchasers that want a colorful image of a building over 150 years old. Simply showing the building without the context would not be as strong a download opportunity. continue reading
Your camera will take no photos while it is stored in its bag!Having your camera at an easy to reach spot is an important key to making the most of quickly passing photo opportunities. It is also wise to make sure the card is in and the battery at least somewhat charged.I keep my camera on a small table where I can grab it with just a few seconds notice. A butterfly flitting past the kitchen window or a raccoon waddling across my porch are good reasons to spend a few minutes outdoors with... continue reading
Just a follow-up for those of you who read my blog on photography time.I have started to carry my camera with me more often. This photo of my best friend Brady came from the weekly trip to the dog park.this seems to be a model rich environment and the puppies don't mind if you don't have a model release!I have found several opportunities since starting this.Unfortunately I can not get the weather in my part of the country to cooperate.have started making notes in a small notebook to... continue reading
I have been amazed by the fact that there are photographers with over 100,000 images on line. As a retired professional photographer who had a camera in his hand a minimum of 10 hours a day, I have avoided carrying it with me.This has led to a small amount of time in the field photographing. My new career has taken up most of my time.Put that together with unacceptable lighting conditions for most of my available time to photograph and it has given me a low total of images in review.I have... continue reading

My husband loves to go to auctions. He is always keen to spot a bargain and share with me all the reasons why he needed to make the purchase and how worthwhile the items/s will be! While there have been a few things that have actually been put to use, most are set out in piles on our property in an unused area. Recently I went for a walk around our vineyard, with my camera in hand. The plan was to capture the new growth on the vines. Whle walking past the aution treasures I happened to see a rusty... continue reading

I'm a list maker. It's what I do.It's how I keep myself organized.I'm such an extreme list maker that my husband jokes that I need to keep lists of all the lists that I keep!Sometimes I write things on a list, just so I can cross them back off. It's a sickness - I can't help it.So you can imagine what a New Year means for me.Yup, New Year - New Lists! For years I have started the New Year by listing.....all the things that I... continue reading
If you have been around stock photography for any amount of time and paid attention to forums and blogs you undoubtedly have seen the phrase "Stock photos are created, not taken". Does this mean that you have to set up every situation and spend a ton of money of props and models? If you are like me, you don't have a large budget for creating amazing sets and hiring teams of models. Here are some ways you can get some stuff accomplished on little or no budget!1) There are generally local models... continue reading
