Comparing Yourself With Others

Emerson says "Envy is ignorance, Imitation is Suicide." -- I learned the hard and painful way that comparing yourself with others - no matter what it is about - is simply torturing yourself and killing all your creativity. You may think this is being self-righteous but since I stopped trying to imitate other artists I become much more creative because I've felt free -- the feeling of that freedom gave me the freedom of creativity. I admire fellow artists works but I don't envy.... continue reading

Promoting Others, Not Just Yourself

I was raised to love my neighbor as myself. I think of my fellow photographers on Dreamstime here as my neighbors. One of the ways I try to show love to my neighbors here on Dreamstime is to help promote their pictures. I have a Twitter account that is set up just for my business. Twitter can be fun because it's kind of neat to see what is trending on any given day. Then I do a search on my portfolio to see if I have a picture that might go with what is trending. Promoting the site

I have recently discovered a free website for artists in my state and there are probably some in other areas, also.On my site, that I'm trying to finish, I can put info about my Dreamstime account. It has introduced a lot of people to Dreamstime. And, hey, free works for me!I don't advertise my other small business in order to keep costs down for customers, so anything else I can do to let people know about my services is nice. And in the future, I plan to put my Dreamstime URL on the back of... continue reading
