Packing Efficiently For Shooting In Developing Nations.

In six days I leave for Ethiopia. Each time I go to Africa, I have to reassess what I’m carrying with me. Did I use it last time? How much use was it to me? Is there something better I could be using next time? This is my tenth trip to Africa in less than seven years. I’m a missionary, and on most trips (though not this one) my primary purpose is documentation. You may have other reasons for shooting, but the basic equipment list will be the same, except for the choice of lenses. Over... continue reading

Heart of a Dog

Here is a short story of Argos, the dog who could be called the most loyal canine in history. In the pictures I share, you see Kora, the dog we own, and other our pack members. That‘s our family.     Argus is the best example of the loyal friend. In Homer's Odyssey, Argos is Odysseus faithful dog. After ten years fighting in Troy, followed by ten more years struggling to get home to Ithaca, Odysseus finally arrives at his homeland. Odysseus bred Argos himself. In his days as a pup,... continue reading

Different points of view

We have got used to many normal things in our daily life, but ignore their beauty. This year’s Spring Festival I went back to my hometown and shot some pictures around me, but at a different time and under a different situation with a careful consideration and i got some pictures much more beautiful. continue reading

Super Bowl XLV Trip Report

I got the letter from the Green Bay Packers shortly after the playoff win over the Philadelphia Eagles: "You have been selected to receive two tickets to the Super Bowl." Of course, it was contingent on going to Atlanta and beating the Falcons and then going on the road again and beating the winner of the Bears/Seahawks game. All very unlikely at that point in time; I suspect Packer fans would have been happy if the season ended in Atlanta. After all, we won the last two games of the season in dramatic... continue reading

I'm Going to the Superbowl

My blogs lately have been a bit serious for the most part, I think it's time for one that is a little more down to earth. While most of the world does not follow American football, virtually the entire planet knows about the Superbowl. Here in America, it's a dream for many to go to the Superbowl, especially if the team you root for will be playing. As someone who lives in Wisconsin, it is a given that you're a Green Bay Packers fan upon birth. :-) Well, the dream has come true for me. I have tickets... continue reading

One of my favorite images upgraded!

Today I have another image that was upgraded to Level 2! Compared to the previous image that was also upgraded, this is actually one of my favorite images. It was taken during one of my backpack travels in Japan while I was there for a year. For this image, I passed by Tokyo from Osaka while on my way to a remote prefecture called Iwate. That day I stopped by Tokyo and decided to catch the sunset from a tall skyscraper that provided a breathtaking view of Tokyo city.I had the opportunity... continue reading

Make your own camera gear backpack

I do alot of hiking daytrips with my camera gear, so I was in the market for one of those camera packs that has a compartment for camera gear plus a compartment for hiking gear.Well after looking for awhile I never found anything that quite met my needs as the hiking gear compartments were too small, the pack was expensive, and the shoulder and waist straps were too minimal for proper comfort. So my solution was to modify an regular hiking daypack to suit my needs.First, I bought a 55litre small... continue reading
