Improving Photography Skills Through Dreamstime

This is my first foray into writing a blog for Dreamstime....I've been a contributor to Dreamstime for some time, starting back when there were less than 1 million images online (seems like ages ago!).At the time, I had discovered the Dreamstime site while looking for inexpensive, quality stock images, thenlater decided to try my hand at contributing a few myself.   At first, I submitted a few vacation photographs, captured with a little "point and shoot" camera (which... continue reading

Its been some time and I have achieved for me this big number! Two sales and two image in the competition! I love nature, animals, architecture old, and its mostly my portfolio.Old architecture always admire. Think of how many hundredyears ago should people patience, skill, work will, to make such a beautiful building with no techniqe that we have today. I think we are in the same situation. And we build everyone your building in Dreamstime. And we need a lot of patience, hard work and love for the... continue reading

Like an infant it me a little over 16 moths to walk amongst other photographers, I often state that I am not a pro and I do not consider myself to be at a professional level in my photography, I am still learning and I am happy to see my progression as I gain experience. So a simple message to the newcomers, don't worry try and try again in time you will learn and you too will be able to walk amongst the pro and sell your work. The 500thimage kind of represent what my last 16 months of stock... continue reading

Finally got the Koala

Living in Australia provides some great opportunities to take wildlife photos. There is a location close by that has loads of Koala's. I must have a thousand photos but they are all looking up and the sky is overblown. We had guests a few weeks ago and we went to show them the Koala's. I said to my self that the mission of the day was to get a photo that I could upload and get accepted. Finally I got the shot, it has been accepted. I am not sure how well it will sell though as koala has a somethings... continue reading

setting goals

Who would have believed a few months ago that I, a photographer without any training, would have reached over 100 photos accepted. The start of the journey was hard and after many refusals I wondered, (as many others have I am sure) if this was for me. I decided to take every criticism and use it to learn. Well all of the hard work paid off and now I can take a look back and walk tall. Now that I have reach the 100 goal, it is time for me to set the next one. To reach 250 by year end, and should I... continue reading

Exceed $25 earning - great to set milestones and achieve it

I have been DT member since 2005 Oct. But I was disappointed with the rejectionand stopped uploading. In 2010 May, as I changed job and had more free time on hand, I resumed and became active again. It came as surprise that sales did come in. It was so encouraging. From 2011 Apr onwards, I set small milestones and work harder. More sales coming and it seems to increase per month with my additional upload. Perseverance works. Next, I need diversity. So, I learnt to draw illustration. Some... continue reading

My latest upload to dreamstime: A shot of my own guitar. That brings the total number of images in my "portfolio" to 7 :) That's 993 images away from the goal of 1000 :) A few more years and a lot more gray hair and we'll get there :) continue reading

Eureka : lessons learned in reaching $1000 today.

This is not a boast although naturally I am pleased that today I reached earnings of $1000 and I haven't withdrawn a cent yet. I joined Dreamstime in the Spring of 2009 and it took a while to get the first image accepted. Then I believed wrongly that scenic images would sell well and went on holiday taking loads of pictures many with identifiable people in them, got no model releases and damaged my acceptance ratio until at one point I was only allowed to submit 3 images per day. After studying... continue reading
