Krakow Legends part2

THE LEGEND OF THE TRUMPETEROF KRAKOWOne of the most famous legends about the city of Krakow is the Legend of the Trumpeter.Historically, the city of Krakow could be seen from the tallest of the two towers of the Mariacki Church of Saint Mary.In a little room at the top of the tower a watchman stood guard over the city protecting it from danger. If an emergency arose, he would blow his trumpet alerting the people. In the 13th century, the brutal Tartars invaded the land, burning... continue reading

My next victim - Peter Adams

Hello again,Based on the reactions to the last blog (Abell concise and me ranting), it would seem that people actually enjoy it when I rant. That, however, does not seem to include my wife who has made it absolutely clear, that all my ranting must be done outside her presence or I shall in no time at all, be ranting about sleeping on the sofa with an empty stomach (ha, I’m one up on her there, I love to cook and my sofa is pretty darn comfortable).Anyhow, I am back here again with another... continue reading

Classical Music

During my recent trip to Saint-Petersburg, my friends invited me to a concert at the recently opened Marriinsky concert hall to listen to the orchestra's playing Stravinsky. Never being a big fan of classical music, this time I was really impressed. Wanted to ask for recommendations of your favorite classical music masterpieces. What should I listen to?Some photos I took during the trip are here to give you a feeling of the cold jewel of Europe which is also the cultural capital of Russia.... continue reading

Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus Buccinator)

There are swans, and then there are Trumpeter Swans (Cygnus buccinator). As the name indicates, Trumpeter Swans demonstrate a distinctive way of communicating, (if humans could just understand what they're saying.)As juveniles, trumpeter swan cygnets transform from little white fluffballs......to brown-tinged adolescents......to the brilliant white plumage of adults. All this takes about a year.Another indication of an immature trumpeter is the orange... continue reading

Have you ever been in St-Petersburg in winter?

Cold wind, snow, lights, shadows, indistinct contours of palaces and bridges, illusive figures on streets...I've made a selection of some photos that reproduce my feelings in some way. Enjoy, please! continue reading

Photograph Experience in Russia

During these years I’ve been to Russia 3 times due to my work need. The 1st time was in summer, it was fine at that time and the light was also quite transparent, however, I had no camera yet then only took with me a DV, so that’s really sort of pity. The next 2 times I went there were all during winter, it’s quite cold , the temperature in the day time was still below minor 16 degrees, because it’s too cold I could only put the battery into the inner pocket of my coat and took it out just... continue reading

What Do You Have in YOUR Attic?

Last year, I traveled through Scandinavia, with a side trip to St. Petersburg. The trip was amazing, especially the time in Russia.I would go back in a minute if I could. While I was in St. Petersburg, I ventured out to Peterhof, Peter the Great's rural palace.I was struck by the beauty of the palace, and took quite a few pictures.I didn't consider them for Dreamstime--I guess to me they meant good memories, not potential sales.By chance, I found a request on the discussion boards... continue reading
