Photographer as Designer

Besides photography I am a writer so with the advent of self publishing through Amazon I decided to put out some novels and short stories. The process is very much "do it yourself" from typing, to layout, to cover design. So I have taken on the role of designer for the books and it has been fun to look at photographs for cover illustration from a different point of view. The first book I did was fairly easy since I knew where I wanted the cover photo to be from and I kew it when I saw it. Short stories... continue reading

You Have to be a Photographer FIRST

I have been a victim of the economy; I've been working but doing consulting which means the jobs are temporary. As my most recent assignment was ending, I began to look for another job and have landed a permanent position. My start date is April 30 and thus have a few days to play with my new Nikon D800.Two days ago I arrived at my parents house, located 30 miles south of Green Bay,Wisconsin, USA. Yesterday morning I was up before the dawn, driving through the dark to be at a specific location... continue reading

Sounds complicated and time consuming but for Igor, food photography is something he really enjoys doing from A to... continue reading

Warning Strike - How to feel like a Reporter

A few days ago there was a warning strike in Nuremberg, Germany, directly before the start of the new collective bargaining with the Metalworkers’ Employers’ Association. Around 3000 workers took part at this short and peaceful strike. What surprised me a lot: Obviously just because of my big camera I was treated by the guards like a reporter!
