Camera changes

Since joining Dreamstime, I've submitted photographs taken with various cameras, starting with a good old point and shoot, followed by a bridge camera and now, with a recently bought DSLR. It's a natural progression but I feel it's still, more about the subject of your photo that counts, rather than the type of camera you use. I've only used the DSLR a little but comparing the three photos, can you tell, which image was taken with which camera (without looking at the date taken of course)   ... continue reading

50th Sale, 350 photos Online. My Top 3 Sellers

Also my first blog post so there's another milestone! I'm really pleased to have reached my 50th sale, I was close to getting there with only 200 files online which would have been a great achievement in terms of sales/uploads but I'm still very happy, also with the new content I've been uploading in that time between 40-50 sales. Here are my top three sellers accounting for a third of my sales so far (despite not being technically my best).#1 Thrilled to see this image used online by a UK Newspaper... continue reading

Revisiting Your Old Work

Looking at Your Old Images with Fresh PerspectiveAs photographers, we are on a never-ending quest to create something new and unusual. After so many years of taking photos, you more than likely have terabytes of archived raw files or boxes upon boxes of negatives – most of which you haven’t looked at in years. Even those photos that we once chose as our favorites are sometimes buried under a wave of new, exciting images. At some point, though, we all need to go back to our photographic... continue reading

100 Sales!

I finally made 100 sales! I never thought it could be so fast. This is the 100th image sold:It took me 9 months to fail uploading, understand what was wrong, upload more, start selling, build portfolio constantly, and now I have 321 images uploaded.I can foresee more sales in less time as portfolio and exposure grows. So, keep working and loving what you are doing.Rejection is normal and makes you a better photographer/illustrator and a better seller. continue reading

Progression of Stock Photography

Since I've began my journey into the stock photography realm, my progression as a photographer has changed in many ways.I realized shortly after focusing all of my attention into creating stock images that my passion and love for photography quickly diminished, whether it be from having images that I had worked on for countless hours not being approved, or by the effort to find things that I felt were stock worthy. I needed to make a change. I took a month or two off, then began to shoot the... continue reading
