I have about 1200 photos on line at DT and practically all are for advertisement. But when I click on contributors portfolios, I see many editorial images. I just got back from a trip to France. Do any images of say, a prespective shot of the Arc de Triomphe with the Champs Elysees on both sides sell? What is the ratio of editorial to commercial sales on DT? Maybe I've been ignoring photos because I can't get 250 model releases or a property release to the Empire State building!Any thoughts or ideas?... continue reading
My friend had this notice on her status, which I did put on my personal timeline.Doesn't seem like it could possibly true, but there have been so many people stealing IP that I thought it couldn't hurt."You are hereby notified that you are strictly prohibited from disclosing, copying, distributing, disseminating, or taking any other action against me with regard to this profile and the contents herein, including, but not limited to my photos, and/or the comments made about my photos or any... continue reading
Living on 55 acres banking a scenic river, with a 270 degree view of a mountain range, we get all kinds of people on our property.Rafters systematically pull up and cut across our pasture to get to the county road, dropping their popped rafts/tubes/floaties/beer bottles and more on our riverbank - and yes, taking the needed bathroom break in the grass (hello, go in the river).Drivers who ignore No Trespassing signs, unhook the gate, shoot out the lock, drive over the fence, whatever... continue reading

Previously, I found it very hard to capture a decent pic specifically meant for RF sale. No logos, business signs, faces, etc. (well, you know the drill) and to obtain model/ property releases is totally out of question.Being an outdoor photographer, it was frustrating sometimes since these kind of pictures will never be approved for the RF section.Case in point : Geneva, Switzerland cityscape. Since the majority of the buildings here have some brand name signs on its top, submitting... continue reading
When it comes down to trademarks it is really important to look at the details. I found out just how much detail recently on a submission where a patent number, barely visible but still there, held things up.I never noticed it until I really got zoomed in on the image and there it was. little things like this will make or break a stock image. Two solutions are available for this problem. If it's a generic enough item in the photo then remove any identifying symbols, logo's, numbers, letters,... continue reading
I decided to start a little blog on here.I am an Illustrator/Artist and play around alittle with photography. I work from home doing my Art so that I can take care of my little girl who is 5.My goal is to have enough illustrations online to sell to make a comfortable living. Not an easy task to accomplish as it takes alot of work obviously and alot of time. Not only do I need to draw each day, scan the illustations in and tweak on photoshop but they also have to be accepted which as we all know... continue reading
Hi everyone,I am a new member at dreamstime and at this level in the stock photography business I have much to learn about what is acceptable in order for an image to be approved.I recently posted a Social Media diagram and it was rejected because of the logos. I originally thought thatwould be a no no until I saw a few members who had used the same concept. So my question is, how can I obtain the property release for youtube, facebook, twitter, bling, and other social networks?Your... continue reading
