What do every contributors hates about stock photography? Yes that's right being your image rejected.I have been on dreamstime as a contributors for about 3 years and during this period I have learned a lot about microstock, So I would like to share my experience with you about how do I deal with my rejections with the help of some examples?First of all let me tell you never get disappointed with any rejection, mostly it proves to be helpful for you, (at least it does for me).Lets start... continue reading
I thought I would share an update with everybody on how my year and a half with being on Dreamstime is going. It has been a tough year and a half and I can report that I'm still here.I didn't quit like I wanted to back when I first started and I only had 3 of my initial 14 images approved or the many more rejections that followed. However despite that I kept learning and uploading. Now on to my progress for the last 18 months. I received my first sale after about a month after my sign up.... continue reading
My story for other newbies like me.I started out wondering... Could I actually sell stock photos? What photos are considered stock? What photos should I submit? Can I really make some extra cash doing this online?I decided I would give it a try and just upload a few older photos I had taken a while back and see what happens. As I did that and waited for my first approvals or rejections, I decided to do some research to see what is selling and what isn't.I wanted to see what others... continue reading
From time to time I enter the various assignment contests here, usually adding anywhere from one to a handful of photos. Much of the time, they are rejected because the editors were looking for "something a little more elaborate." A couple have made it, but my track record is such that I only enter with some trepidation. Then came the smartphone assignment contest. I've been using my iPhone a lot and absolutely love having a camera with me all the time. I sometimes use it to take a few photos even... continue reading
Hi there,I have been under great expectations in these days as I had about 14 images under pending status.Almost a day or two some were in 'image under review' status.Very strange :) However, I was very disappointed when I have seen lots of them with: " Distorted pixels, image was interpolated, poorly scanned, upsampled, oversharpened or JPG was not saved at the highest quality." refusal message status :( or even " - Subject of your submission is already well covered in our data base and... continue reading
A few tips if this is the first time you participate to the assignment. If you picture is refused for the assignment it doesn't mean that the picture can't be accepted as a normal RF image. If your picture doesn't have technical problems, but it is refused because they are looking for something more original, it can be resubmitted as a normal RF. Sometimes the reviewer encourages you to do so, sometimes he/she doesn't. In any case you can resubmit your picture. Here is the tricky part. You don't... continue reading
We all are human beings. We all can be tired. We all are not able to be always right. But we all can speak to each other politely and constructively trying to explain what we think and what we want. Respecting each other. And DT, on my opinion, is very suitable place to be human beings. Are you agree, colleagues? You aren't?! But you have to...Lately I uploaded three images. Here they are:All the three were rejected. Surely, I was upset. But I wrote to support. Trying to explain that... continue reading
A year ago I bought my first reflex. I had everything to learn. I joined just to have some free advises about my pictures from professionals. After some rejections due to all kinds of technical problems I understood how to improve the quality of my pictures. My files were accepted and after a while they started to sell. After DT I joined other major microstock agencies, but none of them is comparable to DT when it comes to detailing explain the reasons for the rejections, which is very important... continue reading
After a great 14 day trip, time to chill out, relax and get away from everything I decided to upload a few shots on my return and see how things went.To my delight I have now had 110 images accepted in the last 10 days with an acceptance ratio of around 75%This is a massive contrast than when I started on here just over a year ago and saw around 15 accepted and 60 rejected in my first month on here.So what's the difference?Well I did not get too disheartened with the rejections as... continue reading
