Hi Guys!I decided to write this as I imagine I am not the only one to ever have had this dilemma. A lot of people have great shooting ideas but just don't know how to approach the tricky subject - of models and, of course, associated releases - required to implement such ideas. The unfortunate consequence of this is that a lot of creative ideas remain just that - ideas that never become reality. What a shame...There can be no doubt that Top Pros - such as the Yuri Arcurs' - amongst us are... continue reading

I have many shots in my personal portfolio that I have not been able to use here mainly because of people reluctant to sign model releases. Due to this I've started taking self portraits and I'm having a lot of fun with it :)Much easier to get a model release for yourself! continue reading
When I got my DSLR a couple of years ago, little did I know the life change that would occur.I bought a Canon DSLR that also shot HD video, mostly for Microstock. I really needed experience in using it, so I signed up to do a 48 Hour Film Festival.Based on the work I did for that, I got hired to shoot a few local commercials and invited to participate in several short films. And then, based on all of that work, I was hired as Director of Photography to shoot a feature film. And then back... continue reading
Hi everyone,I am a new member at dreamstime and at this level in the stock photography business I have much to learn about what is acceptable in order for an image to be approved.I recently posted a Social Media diagram and it was rejected because of the logos. I originally thought thatwould be a no no until I saw a few members who had used the same concept. So my question is, how can I obtain the property release for youtube, facebook, twitter, bling, and other social networks?Your... continue reading

I do not know if everyone has read or remembers my earlier blog on the same topic. Those who have not or need to be refreshed can read it here - Model Releases in Poverty - 1 . Recently I encountered a new experience in my usual foray into getting model releases from poor people. It was a huge fight, a lot of strategy, problems and what not, but finally I could overcome the obstacles and get it done.Recently I was continuously observing this group of poor people whose job is to either labor for... continue reading
My favorite model is always handy. He is a good sport. He has a wonderful face and a fantastic sense of humor. Unlike friends and neighbors, he does not balk when he reads model releases. He looks like a professor, which isn't surprising, because he was a teacher for 25 years. He also looks like a scientist or veteran nauralist, which is good because we like to hike together. If a major company wants to use his image in a campaign, his agent will never try to sue me. (winks)He doesn't mind... continue reading
I have recently discovered the world of stock photos and every site is a little different in setting up your account and requires different qualities of photos.Dreamstime seems to me to be the most professional and the most difficult to get a photo accepted.I recently uploaded about 10 - 12 photos and resubmitted those that required a model release....all of my models are my grandchildren and my children....rather than list my grandbabies names I used initials and I also listed all of their addresses... continue reading
