Retirement was my connection to photography. What was your connection?

I retired from my "job" and now I'm a photographer! Yay PLEASE READ ONOver the past few months I've been struggling with the question, "what is retirement"?Is it quitting your job?Is it collecting a pension? Is it the beginning of a new, fun career? Is it traveling? Is it having the opportunity to explore new and exciting activities? Is it becoming a babysitter to the grandkids? Is it sitting in front of the TV?Is it wasting the rest of your life?Is it struggling to support... continue reading

In recessionary times........... what can you do about a pension?

Interest rates are falling and at an all time lowSome people are so desperate for money to pay bills or mortgages they sell golditems for cash.Evidence of recession is all around every shopping centre. Some shops are having clearances and some even closing altogether because they are making a loss. All this gloomy economic news has an effect on pensionsand presents a big problem for retirement income . Retirement is the best

I retired, from a job I liked, at the end of October. I burned out after 21 years 12 to 16 hour days (this included a 3 hour round trip commute). I have not done much photography in the last 8 months, but the bug has hit me big time.I want to thank Dreamstime for teaching me so much about the world of... continue reading

Please advise, if you can, it's important and urgent, I can't work... :) continue reading

In with the Old

As retirement funds belonging to a large population of aging Boomers shrink, the word “retirement” may drop out of usage. Simultaneously as this group kisses retirement goodbye, the group just below them in the population are faced with a world of constantly changing technology to master if only to be able to communicate with their grandchildren. Meanwhile the big house they had planned on selling to fund the ‘golden years’ has dropped in value and they may not even be able to sell it at all... continue reading

I wish I had more time...

Since I have kicked my other agencies to the curb (minus the 35 images that I am waiting to be eligible to be deleted at one agency), I have more time to do other things. So, why do I STILL wish I had more time?Because I know I could make a living doing photography.Problem is that I am only 6 years away from retirement from the Army.I couldn't get out if I wanted to because of my service obligation, but to do so would be throwing away alot of great benefits that will make my life a thousand... continue reading
