Rites of Passage

Life is a series of events that mark our passage through time. Some events are as unremarkable as a Grandfather teaching his grandson how to swim or parents looking on as their child takes its first step. Other occasions such as traditional religious events or advancement at school or a job require celebration. Images that catch these moments become iconic photos that celebrate family milestones, relationships or rites of passage. They evoke positive emotions that advertisers use to build familiarity... continue reading

Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus)

The Chinese leader Mao stated that Sparrows are pests and should be exterminated. The Chinese have so effectively eradicated these birds that there has been a wave of uncontrolled development of the Colorado that has devoured considerable amounts of crops.... continue reading

Accepted photos on Crowds assignment - an improvement?

I haven't uploaded a lot since last time I wrote a blog article 2015, but I had a nice surprise having 6 photos accepted for "Crowds" assignment. Last time I sent photos for an assignment, all 10 were refused. After that, I uploaded them normally and they were accepted, so it is possible they were good, but not excellent. I feel it is an improvement from the point of view of the acceptance rate for an assignment. The accepted ones from this assignment are below. What is your opinion about this?... continue reading
