Is pet photography profitable for microstock?

Hi Dreamstimers, here I am again. With great surprise I found that one of my pictures has sold 3 times in the last two weeks:  And here it is... so I asked myself... the world of stock photography has a really huge collection of images depicting pets and animals in general, so what is the reason it sells so well and this market seems not to have a decline?I answered myself: pets are today the most interesting market in the whole world. A great number of good photographers dedicate their... continue reading

Waiting patiently and my five first sales

As often said before... keep uploading and don't care about sales..this is what happened to me...and these are my very first sales, between which there is one image I am very affectionate to: My dog pictures give finally me the possibility to sell, and I'm very happy to share this goal with you. Here there is the pic that sold two times in a row: This picture had only five views and two downloads... a lovely result. One more success for me, and so I will wait for next steps.... continue reading

Future sales

HelloI have now decided to offer 50% of any of my future earnings on Dreamstimes to a Cancer Research Charity. The reason for this is that over the years I have seen quite a few of my family and friends succumbed to this awful disease, and I want to try in my own way to help bring the dream that little bit closer, so hopefully one day we can kick the butt of this dreadful disease, so no other families go through the trauma that so many have already gone through.I realise that at the moment,... continue reading

More uploads

Hello Dreamstimers,I just thought I would let you know that since my last post of achieving 100 uploads to my portfolio, and that my aimin that post was to have 150 online by the end of the year. I’m pleased to say so far, I’m up to 116 images, and I still have a few more pending. I would like to think I'm on track with my aims, and possibly some sales sprinkled here and there. Here are two of my images recently added to my portfolio, and I would like to thank you for all the encouragement... continue reading

No sales, but happy

I have uploaded a number of photos onto Dreamstime upon signing up as a contributor in February 2016, and after a shower of rejections and approvals of the submitted photos, I have finally amassed a total of 52 approved photos to date.So far, there have been no sales, but I reckon I can be happy to be part of this community, in which we learn from the experiences of one another, and share our highs and lows.I would like to shout out to the rest of you to keep on keeping on. 1300+ images in my portfolio in 3 months :)

Hi all!As some of you might have read already, even though I registered here in 2013, I started to upload images just in March 2016. Now, after 3 months, I already have more than 1300 images in my portfolio, and still many more to upload. Here is some of them:           Sales are going quite slow, but I know that I need to be patient, as I've just uploaded most of them (still 1 month ago I had only 300 images in my portfolio). Now, I have some question... continue reading

New approved photos

So happy that my photos from my trip to Newstead Abbey have been accepted!     And this is my crowning glory for the day I think. I had to wait ages for this lovely peacock to display his feathers! I'm quite scared of birds and my camera doesn't have that good of a zoom so I had to get pretty close to get the shot.     continue reading

Why stock photography is not a hobby

Okay, so it's been a while since my last post and, if you recall, my last DT blog was fairly negative in calling out people who do not pay for using stock images. That I'm afraid is a perennial problem, which isn't likely to go away any time soon. And anyway, I like to think that my posts are more about helping and entertaining people than moaning about stuff I can't control! So, with that in mind, I wanted to write a short piece on stock photography. It's something I've wanted to write for a while... continue reading

Struggling for sales

Hi I have been using DT for over 4 years now, but still haven't been able to request a payment as i have never got over the $100 mark (I have invested some back into keymasters), though I have had 40 sales out of 530 uploads. Starting to think i need to change style / subject material. Any advice to take things up a notch guys? Probably not enough images of people...Thanks     continue reading
