Travel Blog: West Virginia, Part One

My little family and I just returned home from a two week vacation in West Virginia. My father (and his father, and his father, and... well, you get the idea) is from West Virginia, and my sister lives there also. Although the trip was mostly about seeing my family, who I hadn't seen in a good three years, I also took the opportunity to take plenty of pictures.Since there are so many pictures, and so much that we did, I've decided to split the blog up into two parts. This travel blog is about... continue reading

New Eyes

I have begun to see my life through "new eyes" after these past few months of taking, submitting and studying stock images. I think this new vision is something very beneficial for anyone to acquire. It is a new appreciation for everyday things! Yes! I now am entering a world of nuances and seeing it makes the so called "mundane world" intriguing, exciting and beautiful!I am realizing I am surrounded by beauty! I was just at the laundry mat because I am traveling (as usual) and the old scratched... continue reading

Shoot Everything

There is value in photographing everything, everywhere, all of the time. That value is sight improvement.Sight improvement is the ability to see more clearly tat which will make a better photograph. The more you shoot, the more you are seeing. The more you are seeing, the more your discernment improves.I have a friend who has an eye for seeing the stock value in a photograph. She has been buying stock images for websites, print projects and more for a very long time. In doing this she... continue reading

The Art of Seeing

I think, we will agree that the most important quality in a photographer is the ability to see interesting subjects. I would like to recommend a book named: "Photography and the Art of Seeing" by Freeman Patterson. I got it when I entered the local library in a day I was bored of walking around with my camera and I could find nothing I considered interesting to shoot. In this blog, I will explainwhat I think are the most important lessons that I learned. Don't expect the results to be good for stock... continue reading

Seeing faces everywhere

There is one kind of photography that i like doing that isn't really suited for stock photography. Then again i like taking pictures, and i take pictures when i feel like it.In any case, one thing i do to make it even more fun is add small stories or thoughts to some things that i take photos of.For example taking photos of things that are one thing but may look like something else.Like put a voice to a single number or a letter of the alphabet (i mean think how they would sound if they had... continue reading

Seeing through the camera

Taking pictures not only involve looking and shooting. When we are experiencing a certain place space or object, not only our vision is stimulated; all our senses are; so when the photo is taken one may think that a great photo has been shot, but in reality it may be a corny boring shot void of all senses that we had experienced.A shot should be analysed in terms of color values and clarity of the subject. To shoot a tree having the same light source as the mountain behind; flatness will dominate.... continue reading

Looking good; seeing better

Do you suffer from bad eyes when reading? I do! That is why I keep some reading glasses in every corner of my house. The other day I searched for them and I saw that putting (some of) them in a row it would make some nice pictures. continue reading

Seeing sense

Most obvious sense of all is seeing, it makes us who we are illustrators, photographers, designers. Our imagination is also very important to our work. All of that our creations are really matching my idea, but I found like to show some photos and illustrations that really made the point. To homage all photographers illustration simple and accurate,to homage all illustrators illustration that have photo roots, beautiful, complex, and to homage all of us photo of exactly matching idea,... continue reading

A fresh look

Isn,t it amazing how we look at something every day and don;t really SEE it. We walk by the the same things time after time and suddenly an idea for a photo pops into our head. Some of the best shots are often the simplest things. Part of being a good photographer is seeing things in a new light. At other times you see the potential but can't quite compose the shot the way you would like. Thankfully we now have digital cameras and the cost of our experimenting is dramatically reduced. Take some time... continue reading
