Happy New Year everyone! Before we embark on what we hope to be an exciting 2017 journey, it is customary to take a look back at 2016 and draw some conclusions. A lot of things happened here on Dreamstime last year but the stats we're all curious about are the the same as always: which images sold best and what did people shop for. What were the trends for stock shoppers? To get a more general view, we've added the top sellers for all three categories of files we sold (photos, illustrations,... continue reading

Also my first blog post so there's another milestone! I'm really pleased to have reached my 50th sale, I was close to getting there with only 200 files online which would have been a great achievement in terms of sales/uploads but I'm still very happy, also with the new content I've been uploading in that time between 40-50 sales. Here are my top three sellers accounting for a third of my sales so far (despite not being technically my best).#1 Thrilled to see this image used online by a UK Newspaper... continue reading
If you ask me I can only say that among all bird species, Hummingbirds are the best sellers by far. It may be because to begin with, they are most of them beautiful elegant creatures with an amazing style of flight (but this can't be seen on a pic, isn't it?) and among the tiniest birds of the world like the Cuban endemic Bee-Hummingbird. See my post The tiniest and endemic too.It could also have something to do with the fact that nearly all of the Hummingbird species can be found in tropical... continue reading

Stock photography has really got me thinking about what THEY (buyers) really want.My usual fun and forgetful photography isn't proving of any interest to potential buyers.I had to ask myself a few questions.Wondering day and night what it was that I was missing. After deciding to research the site and others, I found that it was sometimes very simple.Talented photographers take oranges cut, sliced, peeled or whole and make them dance before the lens.I was in awe at how my kitchen could... continue reading
Knowing what sells is crucial if you're looking to be a successful stock photographer. Prediction is equally useful and can be easily made by scrutinizing image consumer behavior. Here's where we can help and show you last year's best sellers. Let's watch, learn and perhaps draw a few useful conclusions for this year's market needs and trends. I have been with DT for almost a year and finally I decided to start blogging (as DT became a kind of addiction:). I am not a professional photographer and I know that my portfolio is quite small and not diverse enough since I upload travel-pictures only, but anyway, I have a great fun being here! And hope to learn still much more thanks to DT!My best greetings to all DT members and buyers! And here are my best-selling photos continue reading
Well I must admit I was stunned few months ago to watch, every five minutes or so, one of these three images being sold one after another to a total of nearly 100 pieces ...So, this means someone really liked my images or they found a good use to them! I'm really proud of these three images, not only cause of their sale record in my portfolio, but I really liked shooting in that dentists office which was modern and brightly colored, and watching them makes me forget about my dentist anxiety... continue reading
Hot arrival from our secret statistics, here comes the list of best sold images in 2010! We'll start with the best selling photos and continue with best selling illustrations so stay tuned for our next post to see the entire list of images the buyers went nuts for last year. To our joy, they picked a few newcomers but remembered to blow the dust off some old library shelves as well. New and old were both in fashion if we are to judge by the upload date of the runners up. Also, the buyers shopped from... continue reading
