There could be many reasons why we are here. I can assure you many are here because they desire to sell their photographs and make some extra cash.Having joined with that good intention, the reality on the ground is not what you initially envisaged. Sales are low. Not only low, they are frustrating. And you may be thinking what’s going on?I can bet you, you are not alone. One fact we all agree and which we need to remind ourselves is that Dreamstime LLC does not buy images. It’s... continue reading

Every photographer who ever sold an image knows that the key to a buyer's heart (and wallet) is uploading exactly what they need; and the key to being truly successful is catering for the taste of many.More than a decade of Dreamstime has passed, millions of images were uploaded and, millions of image were sold. What follows is a chronology in pictures.2006 - it was all about business and teams back then, we all remember the brainstorming sessions, don't we? 2007 - was about family... continue reading

Make no mistake about it, I AM a newbie! That being said, I will get along with the howdee-do's. My name is James Bradshaw, amateur photographer. I live in Lufkin-Texas.I am not new to stock photography, having done it in the past on other sites, which I have since discontinued my relationship with them. ( More on that in a bit. ) I got into this maybe just like everyone else, as a hobby, taking photos at family reunion events, or the all to familiar family vacation. All the photos you see... continue reading

BAM! Oof! Snikt! Pow!Heroes are ingrained deeply into our culture. From ancient Greece to Gotham City, heroes help us tell our story of what it means to be human through their powerful symbols, epic plot lines, Herculean feats, and mysterious superpowers. Not to mention the evil super villains they fight. Heroes are representative of our sports teams and company brands. (Indeed, on websites, the main image is often called a "hero," for it shares some qualities of a superhero.)The storytelling... continue reading
This is my first blog, but only to say thanks to those who have purchased my photos! Usually every time a photo of mine sells it fills my heart with joy. Yesterday this photo sold. It gave me a bitter sad feeling. We were tourists in Paris in May 2013 and just the first day when we started to roam the city, were surprised by the intense police activity, which I found rather amusing. They were dressed for battle as preparing to fight a huge force when in fact the demonstrators turned out to be elderly people that tried to make a last stand against legalizing gay marriage. ... continue reading
Been on Dreamstime a few years now and I can say there's no magic formula to selling images, in other words sales don't explode by reaching any certain approval rating or having a certain amount of images in your portfolio, I believe that the 80% approval rating sales kicker has been debunked numerous times. It's all about the image itself how rare, unique or useful is it?, next is quality, how gifted are you at creativity? and what is your skill level in editing software?, these are keys to success.... continue reading
