Second week at Hai Phong anchorage

For last two weeks we are at Hai Phong roads (Vietnam)- anchorage. Our ship is at the moment without employment. So, how do we prepare the ship for anchorage, and what do we do? The most important thing is to have sufficient quantity of food and water. Any deliveries to the vessel at anchorage are very expensive. Second important thing is to have sufficient number of SIM cards so that we can call our families and dear ones.If this looks funny to you, imagine how would you... continue reading

My first photos with model

Recently I bought a new camera - Nikon D5600. Some might say it's entry level, others will say that I should buy maybe something better for same money... Anyway, I think it's very good. Two weeks later, on our call to Singapore, I managed to sneak out from the ship and buy a new lens (Tamron 18-200mm, F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC). (Kit lens I did not like so much). As a present from a shop owner where I bough my camera, I got a nice tripod.By the way, if you ever manage... continue reading

When you combine job and pleasure on the ship

Being a seaman for almost 20 years I made a collection of great photos. By traveling all around the globe, I have a possibility to see parts of the world which "regular" photographer (or enthusiast) can hardly see. Asia, ports in North or South America, Europe...you name it, I was there. As a seaman I have access to the restricted areas on the vessel, which are not accessible to common visitors.Furthermore, situations at sea, amazing sunsets, in the middle of the ocean, bad... continue reading

My Early Morning Walk Around Weymouth Harbour

I don’t usually get up early on a Sunday, or any other day if I can help it, but last Sunday was different.I had wanted to go to Weymouth Harbour, to take some photos for a long time. It would be perfect.I set my alarm for 0600hrs ( I know that is not early for some of you seasoned photographers but……), grabbed a cup of tea and left the house at 0630hrs.I arrived in Weymouth (located on the South Coast... continue reading
