Camera, slow-motion, frame rates, flickering

When shooting high speed over 100fps with tungsten lamps we sometimes have problems with flickering light in the shot. The solution is to use more powerful lamps for slow motion. For example use a 5Kw lamp instead of a pair or three 1Kw lamps.   continue reading

Video frame rate

Frame rate – is often the reason of strobe motion on air of small local television companies. At the same time, frame rate is wonderful option to play with, when you need more accurate slow motion (in wedding footage, for example). Most of video editing software provide the opportunity to modify the rate and choose any other dimension instead of what was in a source. By changing numbers to the lower side (for ex. from 60fps to 23,976fps), you’ll get wonderfully slowed video. If you... continue reading

Nikon launches retro Df as DSLR camera sales slow

As it's wisely and frequently been pointed out, the best camera is the one that is with you. My Nikon DSLR is not huge by pro camera standards - but it's still too big to go with me all the time. The camera in question lives in a big green backpack alongside other photographic “essentials” - a 70-200 f2.8, wide zoom, filters, flash triggers and a SB flash. That's just the stuff that fits in the bag. There are mono pods, tripods, studio flashes, background sets, large reflectors, small reflectors,... continue reading

What happened to my sales ?

At the end of October I look back at the current month and wonder "where did my sales go"?This has been the lowest sales month for me in nearly 2 years, certainly for 2012.Now I don't sell $100s of images every month, but I have had a steady increase month on month and quarter by quarter.I can see views increasing, but the sales aren't coming through.Anybody have the same experience? Is it possibly subject matter related? continue reading

Slowly but surely

I'm relatively new here and probably have the worst online files to sales going but i plan to keep running with it...Since i started taking photography seriously at the beginning of '09 i have just dumped all my pictures onto various external hard drives with the odd shot reaching flickr etc.I decided to go through them all from the beginning and gradually upload them (is worth a punt eh?) in the hope that people will eventually buy them. i have sifted through the first 250gb today and now... continue reading
