I have slowly been uploading images over time, with no real goal in mind. I just enjoy taking pictures. I am mostly a wildlife photographer, focusing on the things that are all around, but always seem to be missed. I mean the reptiles, amphibians, insects, and arachnids. I do take photos of larger animals as well, but my forte is in the smaller things, the things that generally are scoffed at or go completely unnoticed (which I suppose, is horrible for stock photography.)Here is my 100th photo,... continue reading

Today I got my first sale of a picture I had made with a Nokia lumia 1020 smartphone,it shows a rare Aesculapian snake resting on a branch.During a few months I was only shooting and uploading with the 1020, many photos got rejected and I wondered if I would ever sell any. Meantime I went back to "normal " shooting with my SLR but the whole thing shows that it is indeed possible to sell photos made with a smartphone. continue reading
I am going to talk more about technique. The reason both these photos work is the shadows. . I try to think about how they would look on a wall before I pressed the shutter button. The rock makes the second photo. In the albums there is on large rock toward the lower center that sits just of the road. It sits too low andgets cropped off when it is put in the blog. Any way look carefully and you will noticethe shadows coverthe background of the photos making both are look farther... continue reading

I've been hunting for some snakes lately to photograph some. I got some photos but none were very impressive and looked quite common. It is hard to photograph snakes in the wild here because what you get here are mostly venomous and they are hard to find these days, thanks to the concrete jungles growing so fast. This is the best shot I got in the last 2 weeks and I uploaded only this one. (Snakes aren't in a great demand unless very colorful - and not many colorful snakes here)This one looked... continue reading

I live in a metro called Pune in India. Though my home is located right near the center of the city,my house is situated at the border of some hills which is protected under forest law. There is not much construction here and some peacocks, snakes, rabbits can be found. Snakes are abundant here and I have had my encounters with them since my childhood. In the whole animal kingdom, I had been scared only of snakes until I overcame that fear due to my photographic hunger.A year ago, I was as usual... continue reading
