A pioneer in the stock business once said,"A good stock photo is an incomplete photo".That doesn't make sense, does it? Shouldn't a great stock photo simply be a great photo? Sometimes, yes. But think about one of the reasons stock photos sell and the unfinished business of some stock photos make sense.Look at these images:Image on the left seems to be waiting for something to happen. Wouldn't it be a better photo of... continue reading

Some people suggest that the usage of stock content for a restaurant’s menu might not be a great idea because the images might not reflect the reality. I say you can use stock images, fonts and templates, logos and design elements to stand out from the crowd. Dreamstime can offer all these and more in a large assortment and styles. The winter holidays are coming and this is always a good opportunity to revamp your restaurant menu with fresh items, or specific seasonal items. continue reading
Vienna was chosen 2017 as the most liveable city - for the 8th year in a row. For those, who wonder why, in my humble opinion, parks are a major factor. Vienna has many and big parks, for every season. Let me show you some:This is Volksgarten with the Burgtheater (National Theater) in the background. Very popular among the tourists and locals, because of the closeness to the city center - Burgtheater, Rathaus, the Burg are all very close, in early summer the smell of roses.. The park... continue reading
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, everyone! Oh, you don’t know? It may be September, but in stock photography world, it’s Christmas already. Let me explain. We all know that uploading seasonal photos can provide a nice, recurring, steady income if done right. Right? Well, probably the most important part of doing it right is timing. Two things to consider regarding timing: 1. (For photographers) time needed to get noticed and 2. (For buyers) time needed for clients who notice... continue reading
I have recently achieved the 1000 image milestone on Dreamstime, which seemed a long way away when I started actively uploading files to Dreamstime just over a year ago and the first month my acceptance percentage was under 60%. I took note of the comments on refusals, read more blogs which can be very helpful and now have an acceptance percentage over 90% which is pleasing.I have taken the majority of my images with the Sony A6000 ILCE and most often with the 16-50mm lens. I have found this... continue reading
Many of us love to pick our own food. Some of us even grow it. I moved to Finland recently and one of the country's rule made me very happy: One can pick whatever berry or edible mushroom from any forest they wish. They call this “Every man’s right” and it means that one can walk freely in the forest (no matter who owns it).I love walking in the forest. I love the sound of the wind, the trees voices howling, the rays of sun passing through the trees, coloring everything in gold. Therefore... continue reading
Most e-book authors are not rich and famous and need their covers to attract readers. A cover design must give a clue to the content without giving away something the author wants the readers to discover in the reading process. I avoid artsy-fartsy modeling poses. I pick key character traits of the hero and examine hundreds of pictures looking for one that will motivate a reader to buy because the photo depicts that core of the person the reader will find in the story. I want photos that show the... continue reading

Children, to me, are one of the most magical things in this world. I'd say that as a mother of one, with another on the way, my view might be biased. But I've long loved being in the company of children, and not only my own. Anytime I'm feeling exasperated, overwhelmed, upset, anger, confused... children have this knack of getting me to laugh. I'm not even sure they try, either. Yet the real question is why are children so magical? After a lot of thought, I've come up with... continue reading
