Lachish Region - Unknown Gem In Central Israel

Today I want to share with you the wonders of a region located in central Israel. Mere 40 minutes from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem that offers a lot of exciting sites to visit and a world heritage site - Lachish Region. This hilly area has underground man-made caves the held whole communities in the big Jewish rebellion against the Roman Empire in 135 A.D.Lush green hills (in winter-early spring months) with shepherds that look like they just walk with King David and Jesus 2000-3000 years... continue reading

Color management for dummies

Sorry for the title, I didn't mean to insult anyone, just wanted to get your attention. Now that I have it, let's talk about color profiles and color management.    Without going too deep into color theory or technical specifications, lets just me just say that color profiles are a tool meant to help content creators make sure their audience sees everything the same way they do. This blog will focus on digital cameras and digital images, but the same principles may apply to analog media... continue reading

2,000 sales - the Power of Grit and how it applies to photography

In a very interesting coincidence, I stumbled upon this TED talk about 2 weeks before I reached my 2,000 sales benchmark (today!!!).Grit is a concept that claims that individuals who show passion and perseverance have more chance to succeed in the long run than other factors such as IQ or EQ. More information can be found in this link: Angela Lee Duckworth: Grit: The power of passion and persverance I can testify that in photography it could never be truer.I started my photography... continue reading

Shooting Seasons

After a long pause in my contributions, I have finally got back to business and in previous weeks made something like 20 uploads.I am taking advantage of the winter season in Israel. It's mostly clear and temperatures range between 15-25 celsius most of the time, with rainy days here and there. This allows for day trips in very comfortable weather and it's quite common to get dramatic skies due to clouds as oppose to other seasons. If you are brave or lucky you get also capture post/... continue reading

Eight sales on a single day

Two days ago, someone bought 8 of my images in one day, all from the same "Holy land series" images. These images have been posted on DT for couple of years now, selling here and there, while I slowly increase the number of images that belong to this series. Never before have I sold so many in one day. What can you take from my experience (beyond me tapping on my own shoulder.... :-) ) :1) Follow your heart - You will probably shoot better images if you like what you document... continue reading

The beauty of Israel

I've been documenting Israel's natural beauty on DT for almost 10 years. It never cease to amaze me how deep is the contrast between the beauty of the country and the difficulties that accompany those who dare living here. Despite the fact that Isis is on our borders, The situation with the Palestinians never looked worse, and generally speaking it's pretty hard making a living here, the citizens of this country love it. There is something magical in its vistas, its weather, its ever... continue reading

The ILCE-A7R

My first Sony mirrorless was the NEX-3. When Sony first released their NEX system, it had a total of just three lenses. A pancake 16mm F2.8, a standard zoom 18-55mm F3.5-F5.6 and a do-all zoom 18-200mm. I was using the Sony DSLR-A550 at the time, which by DSLR standard was considered a lightweight body, especially when paired with native Sony A-mount lenses. The NEX-3 impressed me in so many ways, despite its many limitations (fixed auto ISO range, an insanely complicated menu structure,... continue reading
