Did you ever wonder how to capture the splendor of the night sky? Look no more! This shot is not difficult, it’s really just a matter of setting the stage. There are some great opportunities, and challenges, in photographing the night sky. This is especially true if you want to include the Milky Way as in this photo below. Just like the nature; universe inspires, influences and amazes me since I was a little kid. Lately the only thing makes me sad is that it seems not possible to see other worlds, great civilizations in distant planets with our own two eyes. Universe is expanding and galaxies having even more distance each other - and even in this situation, there are billions and billions galaxies out there with mind blowing amount of possibility on the richness of life. All I can do as a creative person is trying... continue reading
On August 12-13 I made an attempt at photographing the Perseids Meteor shower just outside my condominium home in Washington DC.The Perseids Meteor shower is created by the earth's atmosphere colliding with ice and or dust particles from the comet Tuttle.Fortunately where I live it is fairly dark with limited lighting though better places to photograph the meteor shower are outside the city.My results were modest at best.I set up on the lawn outside my condo at about 3:00 AM or later... continue reading
My June weekend at the North Rim was a chance to visit the annual Star Party which is held during the new moon. Amateur astronomers with awesome 'scopes share the views of Saturn, Jupiter and Mars with all the visitors and educate you as well. After taking in some spectacular views of these planets it was time to shoot some milky way starscapes. We found a great place to dry camp off of service road 22 just a few short miles from the park entrance, a large clearing about the size of 2 football... continue reading
