Shooting people is hard. Subjects who are not used to have their picture taken are usually uneasy about spending time with a photographer. Even people with some experience being photographed don't enjoy it that much. I feel that some discomfort is necessary to make the picture more interesting but from my experience the subjects usually relax after couple of minutes. One important element is the fact that people should trust that the photographer knows what he or she is doing. The subject should... continue reading

I’m always excited to notice if my photographs have been viewed – and more so if one is purchased. Predominantly interested in the science behind landscapes and nature, I don't often have models in my images – though I have used them. I don’t pay my models. So far, the thought and conviviality over ‘a sell’ has been enough of an enticement to keep them interested in participating with me in this, my new hobby. The running joke and discussion we have is that if a photograph of... continue reading
As an amateur it's really important that you shoot a lot and do this frequently, however this is easier said and done. You usually find yourself without your camera when there is a good shot or don't have something to shoot with your equipment in hand. Also there is a initial shyness to carry around your camera everywhere you go and then to grab the courage to point it towards someone and shoot. I am sure everyone has gone through this phase or experiencing it right now. I have heard someone... continue reading
I have been taking photos for years. Many photos. Anytime there is a camera in my hand I am taking photos. Anytime there is not a camera in my hand I am composing scenes in my head and wishing I had a camera in my hands. All the while people have been complementing me on my photography. On my raw, unedited work. Images that are screaming at me to refine, to make perfect. But I never did anything with it. I let the photos sit on hard drives to be lost in the sands of time. To be hidden in a box... continue reading
Couple months ago, I start shooting food and food ingredients. A whole new universe was open to my eyes. Didn't realize that usual, daily products, fruits and vegetables can be artistic in some way.For me, photography was focused on portraits: seniors, childs, men, woman, young and old peopleArchitecture: offices, old buildings, old architecture.Food.... really starts to capture my attention after I saw how much can you do and how you can arrange a scene.I'd like to know other people'... continue reading

Some year and a half ago someone tipped me to place my photo's on Dreamstime: "you never know, someone could like your pictures and get you some earnings". So I started to judge my one photo's, till then mainly published on Flickr, and publish them on Dreamstime. What a disappointment at the start. The first I sent in were rejected. The tips and tricks the editors gave were used to ameliorate my material and my judgement. A new body was bought and only the very best were uploaded. Slowly the number... continue reading

Dear Dreamstime contributors and designers,It's been a while since I wrote a blog.Everything in my life crumbled apart piece by piece during 2015:April 2015 I dislocated and broke both of my shoulder simultaneous during powerlifting (one of my passions). A few years back... continue reading
