“You can take moon pictures with it.” Said my friend. That sounded such a cool thing to do. I had never taken a photo of the moon.In fact, I had never even considered the possibility of taking a picture of the moon. For the previous eight years about 90% of the photos I had taken were wobbly one handed snaps of my son alongside associated toys, friends and relations. The other ten percent were indistinguishable blurs. They were all taken on my phone, at a time when phone cameras were not... continue reading

My first few months on here have been a success. I am still not doing this at the speed I would like. Sadly this is just a hobby for me right now. I currently work two full time jobs and photography has been a way to relax. I have several photos pending that I hope are approved! They are the first time I played with photo editing software for stock images.I realize that I need to go at my own speed. I can't rush into this stock image thing. I see all these beautiful bigportfolios and look at... continue reading
I have been getting more into taking photos over the past five years. In a lot of ways it is a very spontaneous act, but at the same time not at all. Great photos can come out of planning all these details to make it just right and often there will be some great photos. My favorite photos come from the unplanned moments or the moment a plan fails because those tend to be the photos that represent life. Life is never going to go completely like someone plans it, but some great moments can come from... continue reading
Well taking a photo isn't hard? - Not at all. With today's technology everyone can pick up a camera and take images. A very common comment you get as a photographer- "Your camera take very good photos" - What should i answer to that, c'mon :P- "Well, thank you, i have learned it all i know" Technically it isn't the camera who takes the photos, its the person behind it. You set all the settings and compose your picture right?. You get the drift. Is it hard to... continue reading
I just started a while ago with dreamstime, and I have 7 pictures so far, and I sold this simple picture of a wooden path. I also sold a picture of a fossil. That is with only 7 pics so far. Maybe this is just beginners luck? Anyway, I loaded about 70 more pictures, and we'll see how this goes. This is fun and addicting. continue reading
I became part of the Dreamstime family 3 years ago, but was like the family member that you only saw at the reunion every couple years. I only got on, maybe, a couple times a year and uploaded even less, but today I decided to start getting more involved because apparently my work isn't as useless as I thought. I remember my first excepted image on here and also how long it felt without any views or sales. Today I logged on after a long time of being inactive to find out my 32 images have 38 sales,... continue reading
I have a home studio, it is set up in my garage, I have gradually built up my gear.I started off using my camera flash on a remote trigger mounted on my tripod, a secondary flash set on "slave". To give differing lighting set ups.My full time job as an engineer meant I could make mounting brackets to hold umbrellas, as well as supports to hold backdrops. These were 96" wide (double width bolt) lengths of black fabric from a local shop.I also aquired the end of a roll of 2.5m white clay-coated... continue reading
Finally, it took me about a year from when I started with Dreamstime but I'm finally getting loads more photos accepted. It's probably partly because I am taking better photos, partly because I'm taking photos that are stock worthy and also I know what Dt are looking for. When I first started I didn't see all the imperfections, now when I blow it up to 100% in photoshop I can see what's wrong. So the moral is for everyone starting out, who is an amateur like me, then don't despair. You'll... continue reading
Hi everyone, I am new to dreamtime and looking forward to using it as a tool to improve my photography and hopefully make a few dollars at the same time.I have recently moved to Australia and I am really looking forward to getting out with the camera and taking some landscapes photos. From reading the forums and blogs I have come to understand that these don't sell too well as stock, so will probably have to diversify a bit. continue reading
