Recently and by curiosity, I searched some of my picture via Google Image. I found a community site which publish articles from its contributors. In this site, there is a freelancer who used my photo as illustration of her article. Of course I reported to DT but in the mean time, I asked that person to remove the picture or get the license. After three emails exchanges, she replied "fait" which means "done".Later on, I was still curious about her others articles. I browse a little bit further... continue reading

I am sad to say that recently I was robbed of some of my camera equipment. I was relieved of my recently acquired camera bag containing some of my lenses, my D80 camera all my chargers, flash unit and Sony handycam video camera, a loss of +- R50.000-00 in Rand currency. Even sadder is the fact that I did not have these insured - and here is the lesson in this - so will not receive money back for this equipment and will have to fork out for new one's. Lesson learnt if its worth a lot to lose then insure... continue reading

The meme in today's Web driven world is that information wants to be free. From state secrets to the hottest music or newest movie, the concept that everything should be free has somehow entered our collective mindset. The middle school kids I work with tell me to go on YouTube to play music because you can get every song and "its free".They have no concept of how the artists are paid and seem to have no direct way to compensate the artist for their work.If their parents complain about... continue reading
I come from China, a mysterious oriental country, I love photography, and are willing to pay a lot of energy. Unfortunately, the Chinese people's awareness of copyright is bad, photographers are often stolen in China, I can not imagine their photo shoot may also be purchased. In DreamsTime.com, I see a lot of high-level photographers, their work is great!I would like to ask, can I do it? continue reading
Dear members,a lot of dreamstime members have very expensive cameras and the risk, that the e.g. Canon bag with camera will be cutted by someone is also high in some areas. My camera was not very expensive ca. 160 eur / ca. 220 dollars, but I am only using a normal bum bag / fanny pack for my Fujifilm camera. Of course some people will be proud, to wear a bag with a Nikon or Canon logo and feel better with it, but they also give attention to possible thiefs. And it is really hard to loose a camera... continue reading
Back in April I had my camera and all the other equipment stolen. The details are not important, I have been stupid and paid for it.Although stock photo is only a hobby for me, it is something I really enjoy doing, so I have never given up the idea of stock photo all this time when I didn't have a camera. Actually I was thinking about it all the time, but until a couple of weeks ago I just didn't have the money to purchase a new camera. But now I have a camera and my first pictures taken with it... continue reading
