"Street portraits" was the topic for Dreamstimes assignment in January 2018, inviting creative photos of everyday people that one may encounter on any one of the worlds many streets. Assignments are fun and rewarding, and for me as an interested amateur it serves to test and challenge my conceptions of quality and originality. I have previously had experiences of joy when having a picture admitted to an assignment contest, but also of disappointment when a photo did not make the cut. This... continue reading

My three most popular images - based on views - probably don't have a ton of views or likes in comparison to some of the more established, well downloaded images you can find on this site. Some of the photos here absolutely blow me away, and make me want to find great shots like them. But, with only about a month of solid trying behind me, I have had a few images that got a good number of views. I'd like to share with you how each of those images came to be. Young Girl With Vivid Orange Flowers... continue reading

Every single picture clicked by a photographer is a combination of some spices of emotions like dreams, hope, passion, obsession, ambition, love, life, adventure and many more. For every new viewer a single photo creates a new story in their mind.At the time i clicked this picture I was thinking that "The birds are the beautiful creation... continue reading
The world divides the bad luck in two days: Friday 13 (sd Tuesday for Spain and America) and Friday 17 (for Italy). But what you do you know about these two numbers? You may not know, but their history is very interesting! The number 13 has different symbologies: 13 is the number of tarot of death, 13 is the number of diners at the Last Supper, 13 is the number associated with the revolt of Lucifer, 13 is the day when it was decided the end of knights Templar. All unfortunate events .... or... continue reading
I have been a victim of the economy; I've been working but doing consulting which means the jobs are temporary. As my most recent assignment was ending, I began to look for another job and have landed a permanent position. My start date is April 30 and thus have a few days to play with my new Nikon D800.Two days ago I arrived at my parents house, located 30 miles south of Green Bay,Wisconsin, USA. Yesterday morning I was up before the dawn, driving through the dark to be at a specific location... continue reading
Until a few months ago I didn't know (or care) much about photography at all.I'd heard terms such as aperture, white balance, depth of field and what not, but had little more than a vague understanding of what they meant.Shooting holiday snaps with a point and shoot, these terms hardly applied to me.Photography was just a matter of pointing a camera at something, pressing the button halfway then pushing down again.Point.Shoot.Voila, there's a photo. It's vaguely in focus, now where's... continue reading
I am really distressed by the sad events of Japan, the tsunami and the 'radioactive cloud'hanging over it. My thoughts are with all those families who have lost loved ones and lost their homes and businesses. As photographers on Dreamstime we have to think how to illustrate these sad news stories without being able to fly to the scene of the disaster. Here is my take on the Japanese situation, first the tsunami, then a map showing Fukishima where the reactors have been out of control then an image... continue reading
I joined Dreamstime at the end of January, after months and months of hesitating about whether I should take the plunge into the microstock world. To find out more about the submission process, I checked out the blogsand message boards. Here I found a number of stories from contributors who uploaded dozens of images for their first submission, only to have them all rejected. So I decided to be cautious and submitted just three images. To my surprise and delight, two of them were approved.Here... continue reading
