The New Commuters

Commuter patterns have changed dramatically over the past few months as individuals cut back on driving both to save gas money and to protect the environment just as other countries such as India and China begin a love affair with the automobile. Both of these eventshave created photographic opportunities.Bike commuting is down in some countries in Asia while up many percentage points in western countries.Dreamstime needs images of bicycle riders that are obviously on their way to the office... continue reading

Mystery in the tall trees

Dramatic images of trees are powerful symbols of growth, shelter, change and endurance. Trees as a metaphor are popular for many brands and services. Beyond commercial use, many people have a somewhat universal emotional connection to trees that goes beyond simple awe.Where I sit at my desk overlooking Puget Sound I can see probably 10,000 or more trees. How do you capture an image of trees that designers will want and how do you separate it from the forest? What trees and what images best... continue reading

It's not just about getting the best airfare and hotel for your money.I'm going to write several blogs on vacation photos over the next month as we enter prime holiday time. What can be achieved

Looking at the blogs this morning, there were two articles, one after the other that, to me, sums up stock photography very well. Firstly, there was Thorken, who has achieved 10,000 submissions in around 7 years, big congratulations. Then there was the blog from Nikoslavdragonball, who has just made his first sale, big congratulations to you too.I don't know if Thorken ever thought that he would make it to 10,000 and I don't know if Nikoslavdragonball imagines he will make 10,000 but the blogs... continue reading

Becoming exclusive

Well, the e-mail arrived yesterday, confirming I am now a photographer, workingexclusively with Dreamstime but how did I get to ths stage? I had 85 photos in my portfolio and was pleased with the submissions process. I'd had a few photos refused but, although disappointing, the advice on how to rectify the problems was extremely useful, which also impressed me.It has made me think more about composition of photographs, to take that bit of extra care when taking the picture and definitely made... continue reading

Everyday Inspiration

Have you ever seen images in places so exotic, with subjects so amazing that you wish you could be in the photographer's shoes? Well guess what, you already are there! We've all experienced it - the "Photographer's Block" - that feeling that there is nothing to photograph! Well, how about a little trip, to the market?  To be honest, I was never one for any street photography, as I am always hesitant in bringing the camera up to a stranger's face. So instead, I take pictures of the things... continue reading

My Story, My Experiences Of One Year

Before I start my story I want to tell my fellow photographers that I am not good in English. Hope you all will forgive me for that.I joined DT on 7/12/2014. Those days I knew nothing about photography and still I am learning, and this is a never ending process. One keeps learning till the day they die.I uploaded a lot of photos after joining but most of them were rejected, yes few selected. This happened again and again. I than started concentrating on the reasons of rejection. There are reasons... continue reading
