Test Jupiter 37A lens with Nikon

Hi all!!!I have a little story for you!So… When I just started to take photos, I was using old camera, which was made in USSR somewhere around 1980 called ZENIT, where you was using photo film inside! I think a lot of people remember these ones! And for last few monthsI was really interested in good old USSR lenses, as during that time things was made to serve for centuries! I read a lot about converting and combining new stuff with old manual lenses, and I found what I was searching for... continue reading

Which 50mm should you buy?

"A 50mm f/1.8 lens tends to cost in the $100-150 range—the same as a kit lens—while an f/1.4 lens costs at least twice as much. At their widest apertures, these lenses produce a very narrow depth of focus and create separation between subject and background (or foreground) that adds dimensionality to your photos for flattering portraits. There’s so little difference, spec-wise, between an f/1.4 and an f/1.8, but the difference in price is huge. How does that translate as far as image quality?... continue reading

Nikkor 18-300mm Lens Field Test Results

I purchased the new Nikkor 18-300 mm (f/3.5-5.6) lens today and ran it through a bunch of test in various condition and the results are in… this is a great lens for $1,000 (US)! It maintains excellent sharpness even with shots done fully extended at 300mm, there is practically no darkening around the corner/edges, very low noise, and sharpness on close subjects is spectacular. Drawbacks… slight chromatic aberration on high contrast edges that are near the sides of the photo when shooting with... continue reading
