South Texas

Recently, I have added a lot of South Texas pictures, thanks in part to a trip my wife & I recently took down there with my sister. Now, for those unfamiliar, South Texas is...well, pretty much desolate, with oasis' of cities cropping up every now and again. There is Corpus Christi, a mecca for the tourists who love sun and surf, then Kingsville, with its world famous King Ranch & Santa Gertrudis cattle. Further on down is Laredo, Harlingen, and Brownsville. There are also other small towns like... continue reading

Photography can be freedom or captivity

I have always tried to keep Photography , in my opinion, an art form. A Freedom. Not that dirty word. A JOB. but it is sad to say, it is a Job. It seems like these days it's almost impossible to find a way to climb to the top of the ladder in the realm of Photography. So many photographers, everyone has a camera, some find a way to make money at it , some enslave their hours into the Service side. Family photos , weddings , birthday parties , events , there is money to be made if you are... continue reading

Lucky snapshot in time

I just reached 555 DT images online and had 2 sales today, which brought me to a total of 55 sales. Not sure how mystical that is, but I'm taking it as a good sign!I'm no where near the stratosphere (e.g., hundreds of thousands of online images) that the early contributors have, but I will keep at it. Good luck to us all.:)   continue reading

Texas Protests and Tips for Photographing Rallies

I spent a number of hours at the Texas State Capitol during Sen. Wendy Davis' filibuster. Sadly, my camera was inoperable, but that meant I got to live in the moment, talking to strangers, sharing stories, and shouting. It was also my first time at a Capitol building and my first big protest since the events against Gov. Scott Walker in Wisconsin a couple years ago.Luckily, I had my camera at the ready during the next wave of protests on July 1st, 2013. I had my sunscreen on (and brought a bottle... continue reading

After the storms

One week has past since a system of storms passed through the northern part of Texas bringing with it rain, baseball sized hailstones, and 21 confirmed tornadoes. Over 1100 homes were damaged with approximately 350 of those destroyed. It is estimated that the cost of damages is between $300 million and $500 million.Remarkably, despite the power of the storms and the large number of people living in the area, no one was killed and few were injured.Recovery is currently underway, and neighbors... continue reading

Fun, then Kidney Stone!

Spent the weekend in Dallas with the family. Went to a Texas Rangers game. Was able to get this image approved as an editorial image.Earlier in the day however, I stopped by the new Cowboy Stadium. Was also able to get this approved as an editorial image. Decided to try the expanded ISO range of my Canon 5D Mark II and use ISO 50. ISO 50 lowers the already very low noise of the 5dM2 and I think I'm a fan of it already. Then, on Sunday morning at 4 am I was awakened... continue reading

A Good Place Worth Visiting in Texas

Texas Capitol Building is a good place worth visiting. It is one of the landmarks of Austin, Texas. It is very convenient for me to get there. I can see its dome from my workplace. It's just 5 minutes by driving to visitor center. The parking is free within 2 hours. When I don’t have a good appetite for lunch, I bring my camera to there to take some pictures hurriedly...Although I have been there for many times, I just knew some important things about Texas Capitol Building yesterday.... continue reading

The Journey of Photography

One of the many benefits of photography is that we can chronicle our journeys. As a stock photographer, I try to incorporate my travel into my quest to produce high quality stock images that will meet some need of the market. At present, I'm working on a project in the NYC area. But I live east of Dallas and weekly make the trip from Dallas to the NYC area.So my journey starts at DFW - trying to catch pictures of jets landing...Then, I've been able to shoot from NJ looking... continue reading
