On the right track

This new year has started off with many things happening for me! I have had 3 sales (one of which was my first non-credit sale!), I recently became exclusive (yay!) and I have been trying out some new photo ideas (which have not exactly panned out the way I had envisioned). With these sales comes a little more self confidence, which is always a wonderful feeling.I have also been testing out some new equipment and new photo ideas, which have not been good for my approval ratio.I will get better... continue reading

My 300th Sale :) & Keeping Track

I haven't checked my stats in a while and went on today and saw that I just made my 300th sale. Right on the nose. It was this photo which just made Level 4:This summer, I caught up on a project I started ages ago, making contact sheets from my various shoots and keeping track of which images sell best - and where different images sell best. This image, and a group of similar backgrounds I shot with my lensbaby when I first got it, have been big sellers for me here on Dreamstime and elsewhere.... continue reading

Sometimes it pays to 'go equipped'

Over the last six months I have started going everywhere with a camera hidden somewhere on me or in my bags. Over coffee I mentioned I was interested in photography and as he knew the head of security at One Canada Square arranged there and then for me to get onto the roof of London's tallest building. Luckily I... continue reading

Leon Guanajuato-Off the Beaten Track

My wife and I just came back from our vacation in Mexico and one of the new places we visited was Leon Guanajuato.Leon is Mexico's 7th largest city and is somewhat off the beaten track as it is quieter than its more popular neighbors such as Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. We found this out when we tried to take a tour of the city only to find out that the tour bus was not running due to lack of business. So we were on our own.We decided to visit the center of town where there were numerous... continue reading

Who bought my Pictures?

I started posting a pictures about 2 weeks ago and have a few sales.I'm looking to expand, seeing this as a great way to gain exposure and make a few dollars. With this being a new endeavor, I'm working through some questions about how this works. My photography has been strictly for pleasure, so I have a bit of an attachment to some of my pictures. What is your opinion on selling the right to your pictures for so cheap? Are you able to track how the buyer uses your photos?
