Travels to Kauai

I love to travel and recently I had the opportunity to visit Kauai in Hawaii. I read as much as I could about what to see there. Kauai is one of the Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean. One of the places that is mentioned as a good destination is Waimea Canyon. It is said that it is the "Grand Canyon" of Hawaii because of the deep canyons and the walls have many colors.Whenever I travel I like to photograph the flowers and plants. In Hawaii, they are very tropical and exotic. Because... continue reading

DIY Photography - Filter Holder

I always used DIY on most of my shots. The first reason is lack of funds, and the second reason is I'm enjoying it, and the third reason is lack of funds. This time I intended to make a square filter holder.Browse the link (FB PAGE) for the image of the I made.https://www.facebook.com/JevSalutillosPhotography/photos/pcb.1124033407714148/1124033194380836/?type=3&theaterI took this photo with DIY Filter Holder.    continue reading

Trailer Travels

A recent trip to the So. Rim, Grand Canyon during a snow storm created some challenging photographic conditions so I thought I would share as it might be helpful to less experienced shooters as I once was. It was cold, snowing and wind driven conditions, making itless than ideal to create some good stock photography.Nevertheless I was there so I was going to make the most of a 2-day stay.Knowing that the train pulls in at about 11:30AM andwhere I wanted to capture the shot I calculated... continue reading

Trailer Travels

Just a couple of weeks ago I came back from my first trip to Alaska. A trip of this nature requires planning well in advance to be as prepared as possible for all scenarios. Cloths layering, hat, water repellent outer layers, waterproof high ankle hiking boots with several pair of insulated socks. As I was expecting incredible landscape and wildlife ops I decided to invest in a professional camerabag to maximize my overhead carry-on as well as well insulated. NEVER 'check' your equipment bag... continue reading

Trailer Travels

My June weekend at the North Rim was a chance to visit the annual Star Party which is held during the new moon. Amateur astronomers with awesome 'scopes share the views of Saturn, Jupiter and Mars with all the visitors and educate you as well. After taking in some spectacular views of these planets it was time to shoot some milky way starscapes. We found a great place to dry camp off of service road 22 just a few short miles from the park entrance, a large clearing about the size of 2 football... continue reading

Western Canada has some great places to visit, from the badlands to the Rocky Mountains in Alberta.  The Okanagan Valley in British Columbia is wonderful for lake activities. I will be out exploring more of British Columbia for sure this summer.Whatever your plans, I hope that you meet interesting people and have memorable experiences!!    continue reading

Trailer travels

I recently purchased a 'Breakthrough Technology'X3 ND 10-stop filter and tested it on Monday as we had stormy weather with, clouds, rain and strong winds.I used a wired remote with a 2 second delay and a sturdy tripod with stones in a bag hung from the hook on the center column. Using a small aperture and slow ISO I timed it at 60 seconds for the best exposure balance. The end result was excellent color rendition, no color shift, ghosting or streaking. The movement of the foliage,... continue reading

Trailer Travels

Since the purchase of my first Travel Trailerin October 2015I have made 4 trips all in my home state of Arizona. This new RV lifestyle has really opened up some great opportunities for me. All the comforts of home in a compact 130SF.This is the definition of the 'Tiny House' movementI will be traveling for photo-ops as often as possible based on the full moon and new moon cycles. Wish I would have done this a loooong time ago but better late than never. My passion is night photography... continue reading
