We move along and take pictures, as amateurs and professionals. Some enjoy the moment, while giving the content within the frame much thought, and others do it as a habit and such has currently become a trend.Acting and believing the act, that's what photo making seems to be heading towards. The largest growing hobby due to ease of reach to equipment and their complementary enhancements ... now everyone is a photographer; how do i know i'm good at it? well i get likes and shares :). A photo with... continue reading

The 80-20 rule (also known as Pareto Principle) states that:"...For many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes..." WikipediaSurprisingly, (or unsurprisingly...) this is exactly what's happening in my portfolio. This is not a post about Mathematics, it's about composition and design and appeal. I wonder what are the possible reasons, for why one image sells and others while increase my online portfolio, at the end of the day only helps to that particular image to sell... continue reading
After many months of decreasing sales and revenue I am finally on an upward trend. This month marks a new BME for revenue for a month and a new sales and revenue BME for a quarter. What is the secret? Putting in the work.Create, upload, rinse, and repeat. As my number of images online have gone up my stats have gone up as well. The best thing that I have found to keep my spirits up and the sales rolling in is to set goals for myself. For example my goal last year was to reach 700 images... continue reading
I must share this thought of the day. A follow-up on a previous blog; I'm still heart broken after my man of 9 years pulled the rug out from under me, and ran away scared. He left me in an apartment I couldn't afford, in a city that can only be compared to the "the pits of hell". During the months of heart ache, going up and down in a continual cycle with him returning AGAIN then leaving AGAIN, my mind and heart was only focused on him. I hadn't uploaded anything or even picked up my camera for 7months.... continue reading
I've noticed a trend that seems to be taking shape for me. Instead of getting lots of smaller sales through subscriptions or just random sales, I seem to be getting fewer but bigger, higher revenue sales in recent months. This is neither a good or bad thing. It seems to mostly be averaging out to about the same as my usual mix of sales, but I just thought it was interesting.I'm wondering if it's just that my portfolio is getting older on this site, which results in more older, higher level photos... continue reading
Over the last several years, there has been a new trend developing in the creation of 3D clothing, that of dynamics."What is dynamics?" you ask.To put it simply, dynamic clothing is clothing that drapes with gravity. If you take a good look at the bottom edge of the clothing in these two images, you can see that the bottom edge sticks out from the model. This is in part because of the way the clothing was created. The mesh used is a stiff construct. Now, granted using transparency maps... continue reading
Back in July I posted an article that many of my recent sales seemed to have a trend to green...Well, now that December has arrived and Christmas is around the corner I'm seeing red - in my sales at least :)Here are some of my sales from yesterday and today with a red theme:How about you - seeing any trends in color this time of the year? continue reading
So you've tried all the conservative, safe stock options, generic in nature, (C'mon let's face it, we all have tried to copy Yuri Arcurs at least once), but in your mind you have an image/series of images that will determine the future of stock, or should at least. What is it? Please share, maybe some really big league designer will see it, and a new Yuri might be born! continue reading
I was doing some research recently into the stock image market as I've been involved with it for a few years and I was interested to see if I could find any data to try and build up a picture of where it is going. One of the things I found out was the very clear downward trend on the number of searches in google for stock images. This chart (http://www.freestockimages.net/images/other/g_trends1.png) shows the negative pattern year on year. The trend for free stock images was showing a decline... continue reading
